I think in a recent test in Car and Driver....the new 5.0 Mustang out classed the Camaro SS and the Challenger RT/8. It beat them in speed, handling, and affordabilty. And maybe I read wrong...but I think it did the 1/4 mile in 11.8 seconds. Correction...OP was correct. 1/4 mile in 12.7 seconds. Compared to the Comaros 13.1 and the Challengers 13.3. Ah but you didn't mention the NEW Mustang Cobra GT500. 1/4 mile??? Less than 10 seconds FROM THE FACTORY! Finally Ford made a Cobra with real nuggets in its pant's again! That one is supposed to be as fast if not a little faster than a ZR-1 Corvette for less money! Don't get me wrong, the ZR-1 is a REAL Corvette. I just never cared for how "flat" the suspension feels in turns. Oddly Ford says their new F150 Raptor is supposed to not only be hell off road but it is boasting an optional 6.4 liter V8 and is supposed to be able to give muscle cars bad headaches. If I do manage to get one I am bolting on a supercharger! Then I should be able to 1/4 mile damn near anyone with a 4 x 4 pickemup! |

P.S. Audi makes a pissed off V-12 with a clear engine cover and it is supposed to outclass almost ALL BMWs. BMWs ride too much on "German Mistique" like Mercedes. I have seen faster Ferraris and that is Italian!
How can anyone afford high end German anything these days? |

I have seen faster Ferraris and that is Italian! How can anyone afford high end German anything these days? You have to buy a used one, that's how. I never bought a brand new car, not sure I would go less than 1 year old ever. I need to see how the long-term test comes off by having someone else driving it, and having someone else experience the faults and problems the car may have. |

I wanted a sensible daily driver with 4 doors and 4 seats, something sporty and fun to drive, and was a little bit "different" than all the other cars I see on the road so I picked up a new 2010 Mazda RX-8 about a month ago

This is my newest ride! I just got it today!
Like that pic does this sweet ride any justice! There we go! YEP! I just bought a 2010 Schwinn Riverside 7 speed! Excellent gas mileage, low maintenance, and people look at me when I am riding it! Hell, at the KMart where I got it people were looking at it as i was standing in line to pay for it. I know it isn't a car but it is the first vehicle I bought that was not second hand! Do not confuse this with the Lakeshore which is gray and has the "eagle" chain guard. The Southport is the low end Schwinn 7 Speed. The Riverside is a full dress bike and is in the middle of the road for Schwinns price wise BUT they really are class bikes and not only are hard to find I got lucky when I found this one. At $208 including tax I think I made out pretty well! And I am taking it out tomorrow for her maiden voyage! Now to dress it out a little! |

the new 2011 ford raptor
|

That would depend on the budget allowed. If less then 50k a 2011 Grand Cherokee, if about 100k a ZR1 corvette, and if no limit a Ferrari 599GTO!

2011 audi r8
Top speed: 301 km/h (187 mph) 0-60 mph (96 km/h): 4.0 seconds 0-100 mph (160 km/h): 10.1 seconds 1/4 mile (~400 m): 12.5 seconds @ 113.2 mph (182.2 km/h) Engine Type: V8 Displacement: 4.2 L (4163 cc) Power: 414 bhp (309 kW) @ 7,800 rpm Lateral Acceleration<br (200 feet (61 m) skidpad): 1.01 g Read more: Audi R8 (Road Car) - Wikicars Under Creative Commons License: Attribution http://wikicars.org/en/Audi_R8_%28Road_Car%29#Performance Engine The Audi R8 will be available with a 4.2 L V8 making 420 hp, as seen in the Audi RS4. Pricing for the 420 bhp model starts from €104,400 or £77,000 (Approx. $140,000 USD). The R8 has a dry weight of 1560 kg (3439 lb). A 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) time of about 4.2 seconds is possible with a top speed of about 187 mph(301 km/h). Future upgrades A second, more powerful engine variant that uses a 520-hp 5.2 L V10, a enlargened version of the Lamborghini Gallardo's engine and already seen in the Audi S8, is rumoured but not confirmed by Audi. Audi is currently in the process of developing a new turbocharged 5.2 L V10 engine for the future Audi RS6, and there is a possibility that this engine will make its way into the R8, dependent on marketing decisions. Test mules of this vehicle are developing well in excess of 600 bhp with the turbocharged 5.2 L V10. If this were to happen it is almost certain that this would create an RS8. According to some sources[1] the 6.0 liter V12 TDI diesel engine from Audi Q7 has been confirmed to Audi R8 as well. This would make Audi R8 by far the fastest diesel powered car in the world with 0 - 100 km/h acceleration in less than 4 seconds.
