In honor of the men and women who have served this country.
Take a few minutes and watch this, it says more then words can describe.

Man, I didn't need to be crying like a baby first thing in the morning.. sad

I spent 9 years in the Army, and was deployed from the Border of (former) East Germany to Saudi Arabia. We landed in Saudi on Christmas Eve. What a way to spend the holiday.

Before we deployed, we were briefed that we would be taking on the Republican Guard, and that the forecast was for roughly 25-35% casualties in our unit. (4th Squadron, 8th US Army Cavalry, 3rd Armored Division). Also written as 4/8 Cav, 3A.D.. Before we deployed, our strength in numbers was about 70%. By the time we left Germany, it was at 98, and by the time the ground war started, we were at 103%. Our total numbers, I believe, were about 485 or so men, so a 35% casualty rate would mean over 160 of us would be taking a one way trip.

Due to our training, and the amount of time the core unit had together (about 2 years), and the capabilities of our equipment, and the not-always-so-bright leadership EVERY military unit deals with, we returned to Germany with only ONE casualty. Staff Sergeant Christopher Robinson.

To you, Sarge, This is my today. To you. flowers drinker flowers

First rounds on me when we meet again.

sad This day is always bittersweet. I have a lot of family in the military and many went to war. But thankfully no one was killed I am thankful they are all fine but I still feel bad for the ones the did not make it out.

One gentlemen I went to school with lost his life while at Iraq. We will be missed.

I'd also like to use this topic to pay my respects. To those who have died fighting for the United States, we honor you.

I hope everybody is good on this Memorial Day. :)
