If the birds are "dive bombing" the dogs, it means there is a nest nearby. They will do the same to humans. It's a natural thing. Once the little ones leave the nest, then it will return to normal. The birds are harmless, but they are territorial, and will keep other birds away. |

I don't walk by where they next but whenever unsuspecting people walk along the pathways the birds dive bomb them.. I feel bad for the people but it's funny as hell too... The birds are protected in Cali so it is illegal to move them or their nests... |

Hummm have you thought that the reason they are attacking the dogs could be they are not attacking them but wanting bits of fur for their nest..............What ya could do is get a brush to brush the dogs with take the excess fur put it in something for it to stay the birds will find it and possible leave your dogs alone.... just a suggestion........ at times that is the only reason birds dive bomb animals or even people it is their hair they want to build their nest.... No, it's definitely not that, they are mean birds, very territorial. The number of them I think is the upset. I've done alot of reading up on them. |

Took the owl out there, freaked them out, they started clicking and jumping to higher trees in the pine. They haven't gone after me, they also leave all the other birds alone, it's just the dogs. I realize once the eggs hatch, they all settle down, even sing but this is getting ridiculous. Hopefully the next wk everytime the dogs go out and me with the owl they'll quit. |

Not quite a mockingbird but, I just looked outside and saw a gorgeous chapparrel (road runner) as it was running back and forth along the road in front of my house looking for snakes, lizards, bugs.......those are the coolest birds ever! Man, what the whohaaa is that loud grey bird Ya'll have down Texas way......I think it starts with a G... If a garbage can could talk, it would make the sound of that freaked out bird.... Those ae Grackles.......sound like something out of Transformers. Females are brown/grey. Males are jet black and make with the funky noises. At the zoo you will here several dozen at a time going off. makes you wonder where they heard the sound of fingernails on a chalk board. |

The males make a watery sound and its so cool. The mockingbirds are aggressive, and permanent removal is the only way to get rid of the harrassment and noise. And even then, it may just move another family in next year. I was highly amused a month back when I came in one morning. Opening the gate, and was getting cussed at by the mockingbird. Flipped him off. Shut the gate, and got catcalled. Okay then. |

Andy! You are nutz man! You ever been shot with an airsoft? Those mother fkrz can make a grown man cry....(so I have been told) it will kill a cat if you get a solid hit. The brad nailer would probaly work in theory......if you dont mind having hundreds of nails hidden in the grass. Try something more practical, dress up like Jason from "Halloween" and chase them around with a butcher knife. Don't know anything about Mockingbirds, other than my daddy is gonna buy me one. Krup, the hair stylist confirmed my face is heart-shaped. I busted out laughing until she cut all my F'ING hair off. Chrissy your beautiful |

Take up falconry! Gosshawks are crazy azzed mean! Just having one of them in the area will make those bad birds flee once they find out something is there to eat them! Catbirds will terrorize larger slower birds of prey but ones that actually hunt other birds make them flee!
We have a crow problem here but my .22 air pistol deals with them nicely! |

Okaaayy. So my dog goes out and I got this owl behind me as I follow him. As 'they' start gearing up for the attack, I hold the owl up over my head (it looks more real than the one posted) and start hissing they all start screaming. Never heard a mocking bird scream but pretty sure thats what they were doing. There I am, chasing them from tree to tree and they do not like it or me. Did this 2 more times and ! All's quiet on the western front now. Went out and nothing, it's like they don't exist. They were getting so intimidating they were sitting on the gate 8 feet from my front door screaming for the dogs to come out (come' on ya cowards we'll get yas- sort of thing) it really was getting bad.
Of course a couple of my neighbors who saw me used to wave, now they just sort of looked at me. 2 stones in one. hehe. BTW, waited til the feeder was empty and little ones (birds) were gone to do this. Score one small step for the wrens, one large step for dogkind. Thanks ya all. |

Was going to post and ask what sort of sounds a owl makes but thought you guys would pretty much avoid me after that.... |
