What is the battle of sexes all about? Do we really like the opposite sex? Would we even bother with them if it were not for ... sex?

Well, the battle of the sexes is a battle that the women will always win. They posess the ultimate power, to create life. Yes, it takes both male and female to procreate, but it is within the woman where all the magic takes place.

So, us men can go ahead and build our skyscrapers, drive our big trucks, and do whatever else makes us feel powerful, but we will never have the power to create a new human being within our own body.

In short, men are jealous of women and that's why there is the battle of the sexes.

I don't believe that for a second. Nope. Men are not jealous of women because they "create life." Women don't create life anyway. They get violated and implanted with a seed and the little parasite starts growing, she gets morning sickness, it sucks all the energy out of the woman and then at its appointed time it rips out of a her body as she screams in pain.

Oh yeh, men are jealous of that.huh

"Battle of the sex's" A phrase started to create for Hollywood & to create drama. There is/has been/always will be, a major differance in men & women. Whoever/however we were created designed it that way. The differance is in animals also. So a battle, I don't think so. A need for open conversation & discussion, always.

Actually, I have more male friends than female. I hang out with them, fish, watch sports, crab, boat, hike and discuss mechanical issues, etc. I would hang out with the opposite sex anytime and not for sexual gratifications. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy sexual gratifications, LOL.

I absolutely LOVE the opposite sex! They fascinate the hell out of me! I have ALWAYS had an easier time making (and keeping) male friends than female friends. While there have been some frustrations for me being management in a mostly male dominated field...ie. lack of respect and the usual using my looks to get ahead thing...I still wouldn't trade it for the world! I think my world would be a dreary, boring place without people of the male persuasion in it!!! bigsmile drinker

Actually if you asked Frued he would call it the Phallic stage that creates the battle of the sexes. He stated that at the age of 6-12 men discover there phallicy and women have phallic envy. Stating that the inferiorness of the female population envied men. Of course, he is the founder of the Psychoanalytic theories, and the sexual stages, ego, id and superego. It truly makes me wonder if his theories accurate for his time, and not to understate his affectiveness with hysteria and hypnosis. If he were to live in todays times and societies, would he have the same take. His theories came from observence in a time when genocide and fleeing was a way of life for some. Would he state today that the phallic was a symbol that women envied?

Freud is an ***, and I can guarantee I don't envy a guy's penis. I much prefer Erikson's theory.

I don't consider myself at war with a whole sex. There are individuals I like and there are those I don't like. There's a couple I lust after, and respect deeply as well. And the one's I like can drive me crazy. But that's because they're important enough to do so.

I actually prescribe to a more extistential/behavioral modification theories myself over the Fruedian Psychoanalytical view, but I do have to say there is something to some of developmental stage interruptions theories, not that I agree with all of it.
