dogs are only mean if thier owners are mean. doesent matter what breed.
i have dobermans and akitas that are so gentle they dont know thier
supposed to be visious. another example of blaming an object where the
person is the problem.

a lot of dogs get " falsley accused" also. a kid throws rocks or hits
the dog when no ones looking then when the dog nips at him everyone
panics and the dog dies, owner is sued, ect. a little common sense would
go a long way in this world.

I strongly disagree with your statement Rambill.

"Dogs are ONLY mean if their owners are mean."

My family owned a dovermin pincher, we are most certainly great pet
owners, and always treat animals fairly. However, the dog we had had to
be put down. It had never attacked my mom or I, but would attack ANYONE
outside of the family for little or no apparent reason at all!

It's nature vs nurture. By nature, many dog species are dangerous. By
nuture, some of them can become very safe and tame, but you are gambling
when you let any dangerous animal around strangers, children and other
pets.

The Cordoba Fighting Dog is extinct, because that breed of dog would
rather fight than mate. Nature won out in their case, their nature
being to fight all other dogs, even to the exclusion of mating.

I think its a terrible law, as characterized in the opening post. We
should have laws against certain actions - like failing to keep a dog's
enclosure in good repair - not against breeds.
