According to the lab that the substance abuse clinic we used second hand smoke can not be picked up in a drug test.
http://www.drug-testing-kits.com/drug-test-faq.html Is it possible to test positive for THC (Marijuana / Cannabis) from exposure to second hand smoke? It is not! Urine concentrations of THC above the cut-off sensitivity level of the test, or a positive result, is possible only through use / inhalation. However, second hand smoke will be in the system, but not at the concentrations that would indicate drug abuse. (This was located on a drug testing website listed above. You have to scroll down a bit---but I copied and pasted it directly here.) |

basically what I want to know is if it is true that 2nd hand can be picked up on the tests. If not, then that is solid evidence that he can't get around. My sister can't handle getting upset. It sends her into attacks. So her husband wants to make sure that it is solid first. Make sense? thank you for your wisdom MT Oh...and thank you to all that replied too Your welcome. |

Thank you for that MT. Unfortunately...with my nephew I have become a 2nd mom to him. It's not unfortunate that I can be there for the family, but because my sister is sick and can't do the things she needs to do. Sometimes with Sean, you have to be a drill sargent before he gets the message.
He is a good kid but having deeper troubles because of his mom's sickness. We are trying to teach him how to be responsible and how to deal with things in his life. |

Not outdoors. Unless they're sitting in a tent. Maybe. With 10 people... and a tarp over the tent to stop any ventilating. And a tent breathes even when closed up. I would get a buzz as secondhand on pot when I would sit at friends who did the gaming/smoking/small room thing, but never when we were out camping, and they usually smoked there even more. |

Kim, I got to say, 16 year old? Head is thick like a Billy Goat?
Right hand to side of head! Hell, it took my brother with a piece of 2 x 4 to teach my mom's goat Robert manners. 16 = 'I know more than you, what do you know!' stage in a kid's life. I understand abnormal reactions to drugs myself. Classic hyperactive myself so everything except antibiotics all have weird effects on me. Pot though is not like man made pharmaceuticals. It is rare for anyone to have a serious reaction to it. We are talking 1 in maybe several million have any real adverse reaction to it. The substance is not the problem, it is the people he is hanging around with. He needs to get an idea of what he needs to do for his future and how not to screw that up. If anything he needs to get a job of some kind and save money and get a car of his own. Put a conditional on him driving, he can't smoke pot under your roof or your sister's, period. If he is caught take the keys from him. Simple, fulfill obligation receive a reward. |
