Not expecting to convert anyone I am just wondering if anyone has ever heard about this topic ...

Well, I've definitely heard about it - a great deal. More than I can stomeache. One of my house mates was a serious chemtrail conspiracy nut. She also believed that streetlights turned on and off in response to her presence, and that our political leaders are reptilian aliens. Another friend's wife believed the government was spraying the sky with chemicals to stop us from questioning what evil things they might be up to. Here in california we have people spamming craigslist with warnings about 'chemtrails'. My social sphere has an unfortunate wing-nut component to it (far beyond the two mentioned) and I've heard a great deal of completely irrational gibberish from people justifying their insanity.

However, the existence of irrational an insane people doesn't disprove any chemtrail claim.

What I'm wondering is what exactly is being claimed by people in this thread who are sympathetic to the chemtrail conspiracy people.

So when you say:

Simple observation tells me that there is something to this.

I'm curious about what you mean by 'something to this'. Are you saying that someone is deliberately spraying mind altering drugs into our atmosphere?

I think there is 'something to this' too... one of those 'somethings' is condensation. I'm curious what the other somethings might be.

Yesterday it seemed as if the sky was full of contrails that did not evaporate and spread out into a haze other days normal jet contrails that do evaporate. Seems to be no reasone or patern to when this happens.

So: (a) some days contrails evaporate quickly (b) some days contrails last a long time and (c) you can't detect a pattern.

You know that its possible for the atmosphere dynamics at that altitude to be very different than the dynamics we experience as weather, right? The ambient humidity, temperature, wind speed, cloud cover, etc etc can be identical at ground level on two different days, yet the dynamics at jet altitudes can be totally different - with fast or slow winds, cold or hot, moist or dry air.

So we shouldn't expect to be able to personally detect much of a pattern.

I never said mind altering drugs or anything like that. I suspect like most people do that it has something to do with either weather manipulation or global warming. I have been looking into this and there are alot of websites about this topic. Yahoo even has a group with hundreds of thousands of members discussing this topic. Its verry interesting.

Cool. I ask because there are people who believe the 'mind control drugs' theory who also say 'there is something to this'; along with those who think 'they' are spraying us with self-replicating nanites.

If by 'weather manipulation' you mean 'trying to make it rain when it wouldn't otherwise, without human intervention', then I consider it be a fact that right now, somewhere on this planet someone is flying a plane and releasing chemicals (possibly not the best for humans or other life) for the purpose of trying to make it rain. I meant to add that to my list of 'acknowledged things planes do' in my above post.

However:

I see a few contrails in the sky right now. Are those sprays intended to make it rain, or otherwise manipulate the weather? I have no reason to believe so.

Yes, the websites and the discussion groups...I've not specifically seen yahoo's, but I've seen others. They don't lead me to believe any chemtrail conspiracy; they lead me to believe the participants ought to read this page:
