Topic: Texas Is Catchin' On, Too ... | |

Now that AZ has shown the rest of the states HOW to deal with the problem of illegals, it seems that the political class in Tejas is finally growing a spine too. What else can it be? Tejas has elected a 'congressman' by the name of Reyes who goes to D.C. and claims to represent what HE calls 'Occupied Mexico'. That from a 'congressman'. It'll be interesting to see if Tejas can pull this off with as much class as did AZ ... I don't think Perry's up to the task. We'll see.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/politics/Rep-Wants-AZ-Immigration-Law-in-Texas-92305354.html Rep Wants AZ Immigration Law in Texas A Republican Texas lawmaker plans to introduce a tough immigration measure similar to the new law in Arizona, a move state Democrats say would be a mistake. Rep. Debbie Riddle of Tomball said she will push for the law in the January legislative session, according to Wednesday's editions of the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle. "The first priority for any elected official is to make sure that the safety and security of Texans is well-established," said Riddle, who introduced a similar measure in 2009 that didn't get out of committee. "If our federal government did their job, then Arizona wouldn't have to take this action, and neither would Texas." The Arizona law would require local and state law enforcement to question people about their immigration status -- and make it a crime for immigrants to lack registration documents. |
Now...if we could only get the rest of the states to follow the same action.
Maybe we should occupy ALL of Mexico instead instead of them occupying us!
Once upon a time Mexico had a bigger army than ours but after the Texas republic beat their azzes up they haven't been squat other than a pack of whining ingrates! They should be glad they were left anything at all because Mexico was built on Imperialism. Then they get their independence from France but once upon a time they were own by Spain and they didn't complain then! Mexico wants Texas back? They also want California back too! And most of Arizona! So how about Tibet? Think China is giving that one back? And China wants Taiwan too but Taiwan wants nothing to do with them. I hope Texas grows a pair like AZ and takes their part of our nation back from the illegals and most of all F Mexico! The polluted stinking toilet of a nation needs to clean up their own act and stop blaming us for Victimizing them! They are so full of themselves! They victimize THEMSELVES! |
I haven't researched who is running for office this November. Seems like promises to protect citizens from Illegals gets to be a hot debate come near election times. |
Austin, the capital of Texas, is a very liberal town. The vast majority of Texas is moderate conservative and strongly financially conservative.
It is one of the few states in the "black". Don't expect much from the Texas state politicians. They are still politicians and mostly lawyers and seek Hispanic votes. Begin Quote: AUSTIN — Arizona's new anti-illegal immigration law puts a spotlight on a battleground issue for Gov. Rick Perry and his Democratic challenger Bill White, but it has political liabilities for both candidates. Illegal immigration is a sensitive issue for Perry and White because they want to attract Hispanic votes. But Perry has the additional need to fire up a conservative Republican base that blames illegal immigration for many of the nation's ills. “In the best of all worlds, for White to win, there has to be a large Latino voter turnout,” said Jerry Polinard, a political scientist at the University of Texas Pan-American in Edinburg. He said if the anti-immigration debate nationally is perceived as anti-Latino, it could spark a voter turnout that has not been there for Democrats in the past. “This is almost like a gift to him,” Polinard said of White. The anti-immigration voters already like Perry and do not need to be persuaded to vote for him, Polinard said. “What this does is make it harder for the governor to get back to the middle of the road,” he said. Perry disappointed some supporters in his 2006 re-election on the immigration issue. Perry ran tough-on-the-border television commercials hinting at a crackdown on undocumented immigrants, but after winning he came out against ending birthright citizenship, opposed a border fence and favored an immigration guest worker program. Perry has said there can be no immigration reform without border security and blames a porous border on the federal government. A spokeswoman for White also said border security is a federal problem. Perry's campaign aides twice now — citing the Congressional Research Service — have taken shots at White, claiming he had a de facto “sanctuary city” as Houston's mayor because police did not automatically check the immigration status of people arrested for other crimes. What they do not say is the research service in its most recent report took Houston off its sanctuary city list and noted police have been checking immigration status since October 2006. They also overlook the fact that the Texas Department of Public Safety under Perry does not routinely check the immigration status of people it arrests. |
Two more state legislators jumped on the bandwagon yesterday and announced that they intended to enter laws for Texas to act in a way similar to Arizona.
We'll see. |
