You sort of proved my point by asking why you can't find a 'beautiful' woman. Why can't you say "a woman that appreciates me". It's assumed you will find her beautiful if you like her.

Getting back to the topic: I think it's natural that we would want someone to love us for who we are. Who doesn't want to be appreciated and cared for? But in my experience, I've found that most people are very narrow, rigid, and traditional re: what they find acceptable in another person. Those of us who don't fit neatly into such constraints may find it more difficult to be accepted.
