I wrote this after the great Tsunami in 2004.

Pompe, Java, Phuket, as it has happened in the past, so shall it happen again.

Tsunami
Life swept away

Unknown horror overshadows all reason,
souls relaxing enjoying the season.
Nature’s wrath reaches out and engulfs,
devouring all manner of man and self.

Leaving nothing in it’s wake,in dealing out death's grim fate.
Depriving all of their existence.
Oh, the innocence it did take.

Overwhelming and without warning,
promises taken and mankind deprived.
Like a descending plague it scoured ore.Swirling, splashing, blasting and foaming.
Like the hands of death reaching out,
desperately grasping at still clutching life.

Engulfing all in its path of hell.
Capturing most within its powerful grasp.
Some slipping through death’s fingers and into history.
Unknown, if by chance or superior design.
As if spared to tell of this devilish victory.

For those left behind in sorrow, nature’s beauty now bares the scar.
Of a landscape and a people marred.
Earth renews in vigor and strength.
Man endures and overcomes strife.

Atrocities are forgotten, if not forgiven, with the advent of newer and greater replacements.
The worst in nature brings out the best in man.
Throughout history it has always been the way of things.
All matter returns to the clay and the sand.

Joining together all manner of mankind to ponder.
To stand in awe of Nature's fury and wonder.
What new enveloping horror shall Earth next play host?
Be it man made or natural or from a will greater than both?
