6.9 is pretty big... it was just a really long rolling earthquake instead of a violently shaking one.

Some might blame it on Global Warming. Huh? What's that. No scientific proof.

I felt it and it was a slow soft rolling that almost made me feel sea sick. 6.9 near Calexico MX. I agree CA is due for a BIG bad one soon. My guess is San Fran gets it again. Estimate over 8.0 by my guess. What we felt in LA was probably our side of the San Andreas fault moving (displacing as it is called by geologists). When San Fran bought it in 1907 300 miles of the San Andreas moved. LA always gets them in the 6.0s and 7.0s. LA is constantly active while San Fran isn't. It builds up and then POW! San Fran part deux? Now there is one location everyone overlooks. The region of Crescent city and Eureka. Every once in a while they get HAMMERED by big earthquakes that also throw tsunamis at them.
The earthquakes are not any more or less frequent or more or less powerful. They just happen. California may slide up the coastline or down to Mexico but it is not falling into the ocean! Just sit back and enjoy the ride! |
