Part 1:

Everyday when I'm on my way home,
I see it in the same place everyday.
The white dress in the window.
Someday you'll put it on I pray,
And in a day I would build you a Rome.

It has been there for so long,
No one seems to buy it,
The white dress in the window.
Almost as on you was meant to be its every bit,
Like my heart to you does belong.

Everytime I see it I smile,
A smile of satisfaction,
Because I picture you in it,
And can not even imagine your reaction,
As you put it on in a princess' style.

I have grown weary of the wait,
The dress now reminds me of my fear,
As I saw you go off with a Prince in the horizon,
As I stood there drunk on cheap beer,
Smiling at my own woeful fate.

Alas that white dress is gone, as have you,
I am sprawled on the lawn, wet with morning dew.

Part 2:

The white dress has been replaced,
A new one has taken its place,
It matches the old one in beauty,
And once again it makes my heart race,
I feel as if by the ghosts of past I am being chased.

The new dress brings back memories old,
But then the phone rings,
And it says that you're calling.
I know good news it brings,
That will give me happiness tenfold!

The new dress is so much better,
It reminds me of you,
And erases many memories of the old one.
Like how she simply bade adieu,
In that stupid shitty letter!

It reminds me of how you came like a breeze,
In my life filled with stress,
And how you helped me find love,
In a life that was a mess,
And you make me fall to my knees.

As I drop to my knees, and ask you to marry me,
I hear your answer and freeze, before I yell in utter glee!
