Quoted just to bump the pics! ... ... Beautiful, aren't you ever so blessed!? MANY happy years, family, MANY!!! ... Short of any freaky accidents, most definitely. Chance is 19, and have had him since he was 3. The mare, Kissy, was 5 when mom got her, and 24 when she passed. Abe, my first horse was 17 and 27 when he passed. I've always been lucky to get sane smart horses with few problems. And one gets to know them so well after that time. I've never understood the ones who keep a horse for a year or three and get a new one. They aren't cars... I've only ever known folks who kept their horses the entirety, long haul! My friend just lost hers at 24 last week, was her daughter's trick~rider. That must be so hard to live w/ them so many years, then have them get old and pass ... I've done it so much w/ people ... And dogs ... Hard to say g'bye to dearest friends/family ... Sounds like at least another 10 w/ Chance and 20 or more w/ Gentry ... Gentry looks like my Cocker Spaniel in colouring, called "parti" in this case. |

Kissy died about 6 years ago, and it's taken this long to decide on another one. Chance had the neighbors horses, plus cows, pigs, and goats, so he wasn't lonely, but it took a while to get over it. Parti colors on dogs are my favorite. I love the sheer amount of coloring that shows up. One of mom's Japanese Chins is a tri-color in white, brown, and black. |
