What made the makers of the condoms come up with that name? I mean really, how is it a good idea that a giant statue that vomits forth sea men, who slay and decimate a town, would decide that a bit of plastic would protect folks from pregnancy?

I believe they are laytex, not plastic. There is also another brand of protective gear called Ramses. I am presuming that the name was inspired by the Egyptian pharoah Ramesses II, also known as Ramesses the Great, as Ramesses the I was a rather unremarkable ruler, only lasting 16 months.
