i don't know if I can;
but i will i walk into the grotto by moonlight near my mother's house. it is winter and the rainy season in the Pacific Northwest, but there is bear sign and the neighbors have seen Him lately. I know him by smell and he keeps his distance, but the wild thorns are closing in while my mother and i sleep, and the blackberries have the pear tree under siege. it takes time for my eyes to adjust to the dim light and I see the thorns are thin and lovely. i touch them lightly. their husks split open and bear tough small seeds. the blackberries cling to Me when I bow to them and bare me sweet dark fruit. |

for Ivan i stood in up to my neck just for us to know how deep it was you smiled at such a sally from the bank unafraid of deep water but too short to go all the way in through no fault of your own (There are more; but these ought to be enough to encourage others to share what they have written) |
