It doesn't have to be just sitting down and attempting to do or think of nothing. I meditate when I'm brushing the horse or even the cows. It's a soothing, repetitive motion, that allows me to focus in on what I'm doing peacefully, and relax that way.

I can also zone out and relax when I'm cleaning house.

absolutely..I do walking meditations...for a beginner it's good to start with breathing, as they do more they learn more.

Have you done any walking meditations with labyrinths? I'd love to set up a small one at home. I think they're totally awesome!

Thats where I do mine, becoming one with the enviroment. focus on the sounds sights you see without thinking about them, very enlightening, relaxing. Be comfortable in your clothing, not too hot or cold.

No, I haven't. I go up in the mountains and hike. There are a gazillion trails to walk....so I spend most of my time there. In the winter mostly I just sit. I'm really enjoying getting back out there as of late. I'd love to have a place to set one up though..I'm thinking with lots of rocks.

Nice. I usually go wandering through my woods. The streets aren't safe between stupid drivers and running dogs.

Yeah, I think I'd do rocks set up in some sort of shape. I tried it one time as a therapy thing and found it very easy to slip in and out of for meditation. I was using the local church up in Dallas, but I'd definitely go for an outdoor one.

I learned TM transcendental meditation when I was 18. Since then I've slipped in and out of consciousness. Really though, thank you for reminding me to meditate. TM people say it's the only way. But you are all correct in finding many ways to meditate. The main thing is not to force yourself to do it. You don't try not to think. You just refocus on a nice sound or word pattern that makes you feel relaxed. I like the brushing an animal idea. Never thought of that as a meditation before. A TM session is 15 minutes. But you can find times to power meditate too. Like before an exam, or an interview.
