I want to help you, I want to embrace you in a hug, so you know.
I want to take away all your pains, and tears, to make you glow. We talk and you drink, we talk and you drink. Over and over, until you can't even really think. This makes me want to cry, as your slurs, turn to blurs. Drinking to stop from thinking, all that can be wrong. Drinking and slurring was my families favorite song. I want to help you, I want to embrace you in a hug, so you know. I want to take away all your pains, and tears, to make you glow. This may seem hard for you to understand,I can't play in your band. I left that life thirty years ago, swearing to never be a drunk. I have spent thirty years sleeping sober and straight in my bunk. I deal with all that life throws at me through knowing I am strong. This doesn't make me better than you, I just know that its wrong. I want to help you, I want to embrace you in a hug, so you know. I want to take away all your pains, and tears, to make you glow. We have all had past experiences that hurt us to our core. Things we wish, they never happen, or times we wished we done more. But turning to a bottle will never change, what we refuse to see. I am PROUD of you for TRYING,,and FOR SUCCESSFULLY STAYING, with your mind aware of that risk and problem...always there... YOU SIR,,,,are a WINNER. and THATS something to be very proud of to say..... I have never had it,because I ALWAYS FEARED IT as to do it very often,,yet it also has NEVER made me change as the person I am now,,except for maybe more silly funny ha ha's,,lol. My dad was a drunk who took me into bars at the young age of three on,,he would have me dance in front of the juke box while more drunks would yell,laugh, spill beers, and buy me a soda pop. WHAT A LIFE,wink,,lol...so when ANYONE drinks and slurs and shows me a taste of THAT young to teen past life I lived,,,I get ill. In all ways and leave them or that place their all drunk in,,,lol JUST a choice,,like YOURS,,that I have chose to live... this was a really good poem and had I lot of truth in it, drinking is never the solution ,always brings more problems. bit people do tend to forget that, the problem is always there in the worning when they wake up , drinking doesn't cure it just enhances it, very well written poem and truthful in what you are telling your friend, good write

Its THAT THING with how often you feel the need to do that,,and how much ya do when ya do? YOU nor ANYONE will ever find out who they are through ANYTHING,, that MAKES THEIR MINDS LEAVE OR BE HAPPY...Only WE can feel who we are and only we can make a choice to WANT-TO CHANGE... BUT only through CLEAR EYES and a clear MIND.. So if to PARTY is how you want to LIVE and BE all the time. Trust me it will bite ya in the asss in the end as it will TAKE everything away from you including friends and even family.. Some friends I have had,,drugs and booze ended their lives already. Tobaco rules me,,but never have I allowed anything else to make ME someone else,wink.. Ask your family if THEY THINK you get missed up to much? OR if they feel YOU CHANGE when ya do see them well high? THEY will tell you the truth? IF they think you do,,,,,SHOW THEM THEIR WRONG! And take a break from doing it for awhile to see if you can. BUT see,,THIS is the thing,,,no-one,,,SEE'S THEM SELVES,,until its already out of control,,,and THEN,,,its very HARD to find the will to be better and who you use to be...I wish you well and hope for KNOWING you LIKE who you are and others like you around them.. IF THEY DO,,,your cool and all's good!!

Great writing "T"...
Had my own bout with the bottle many years ago. Its over now and I dont need to drink anymore, I will never, however forget the anguish that led me to my lowest point. It wasnt pretty but I can honestly speak from experience and experience is the greatest teacher. Freedom I believe comes with age and learning life as you go. Some lessons are painful...You gotta pick your battles and dont sweat the small stuff! |

I NEVER let my grade in school hold me back from DOING MORE so as I could GET a cool job or be LOOKING BETTER for my kids to SEE ME AS..
