Here in the upper midwest, I've heard people say that you should plant your potatoes on Good Friday. There are also Lunar guidelines that dictate when you should plant what. What other gardening tips and myths are out there?

That explains something to me. The garden shop in my area had a sign last week that said it was selling potatoe seedlings. I was thinking that was too early. The ground is still frozen here in St. Louis.

Considering that global warming only refers to the oceans warming, it probably hasn't skipped anyone.

Here we are pushing it if we plant in April. I have never used an almanac or anything. Around the first of May is planting for me when I have a yard to plant in that is.

I did'nt mean to start a global warming issue that was a tease for Winxie !I usually start plants indoors around mid march and then transplant in this northern climate .

Up north, corn was planted so it was "knee-high by the Fourth of July".

I don't really pay much attention to the Farmer's Almanac, or the guidelines. I kinda just go with what feels right.

I really wish we'd get a dry week or two though, so I could get the garden re-tilled and the rows reset. Sigh.

I've never read the Farmer's Almanac.

Global warming skip St. Louis? We didn't get much snow. It's less and less every year. Knock on wood. lol
