When I am reading the forums, and someone makes
a cogent and/or witty remark, I will click on
their pic/profile to remind me who it is.
It had not occurred to me that this might be
taken as a sign of interest.

There was a time when I had a group of 7 or 8 women who would look at my profile every day, and they never ever sent me a message.

I even posted about it a few times, hoping to maybe prod one of them into telling me what they were up to, but it never worked.

Of course, with stealth mode now available, they may still be doing it.....

I just let them look. If that's what makes them happy then why not? I only talk with them when they either click Yes on mutual match or they send me an e-mail. I figure if we were standing in a large room with lots of other people and they were looking over at me, that they just happened to be looking around. They only prove to me that they're interested when they actually walk up to me and say hi. Same sorta thing here....

in here...they are just chatting, isn't that the whole point?
Just like you might when meeting in person the first time.
You prod a little for humor.
You poke a wee for intellect.
You listen for what they don't say.
You perv their profile to see if they are truly among
the living. Although this is not proof positive.

It just seems to me that the whole point to the forums is
to, well, mingle ideas in the expectation that you might
find someone you want to talk to.
Share opinions with, or not.
Or, God forbid..learn something.

I guess I'm weird then, because I don't want an email from someone simply because I viewed them or because they viewed me. Viewing someone's profile doesn't mean you're interested in them personally. The only way you know for sure if someone is actually interested in you is if they email you and say "I'm interested in you."

There is only one person on this site whose profile I look at based on personal interest. There are some that I repeatedly view because I know they often update and I find the updates interesting, but I don't particularly want to talk to them. I used to only view in stealth mode, because for some reason people think if you view them even once, you must want to hold them a conversation. The other day I made the mistake of viewing this guy after he'd nudged me and viewed me, and I didn't go into stealth mode to do it. I just happened to block him after his nudge, because I could tell from the looks of him that he'd be the kind to send an email. And sure enough, in my recent activity, there it was. Thankfully, the filters caught it, but seriously??? I viewed a profile, I couldn't see his disturbingly unattractive photo very well from the thumbnail so I wanted to have a closer look. Then I saw all the misspellings and other off-putting details from his profile. Um, yeah, no thanks.

Anyway, my point is this, people have various reasons for "repeatedly perving" and not all of them are from personal interest. Thankfully, I've learned who to perv in stealth and who can handle just being looked at without thinking "wow, she wants me, let me go email her STAT!!!" I've also put that in my profile, so it seems to be working. Yay.

I suspect my repeat stalkers are operating under the assumption that they can implement some sort of voodoo curse by looking at my profile over and over and over. I imagine them chanting something while they do this. I hope so, anyway.

Well, I will admit that sometimes really immature people do that "to get your attention." I think it's juvenile. There's a guy who keeps viewing me over and over. He looks like he might be 12 years old. Ugh. But yeah, I'm sure he thinks if he keeps staring, I'll say "wow, I really have to send that kid an email like RIGHT NOW!!" Nope.....

I wonder what kind of chants they're using?

I look because with all the people I meet during the day, and then here, forget who am talking to or want to know what a person is like. Sometimes, I do say something to someone, esp if they have a really nice profile...otherwise it's for my memory bank.
