I've had some pretty good days in Paris. Once, at breakfast, I met a stunning
but dejected young woman from another country who was not having a good visit in Paris. She was staying at the same hostel as me but despite Michelin did not know where to start and had no one to share her time with...So I told her that this was completely unacceptable and invited her to share a day with me. Her name translated to "Violet" and despite the fact that I had a bit of a cold, she accompanied me for a day. We went to the Jeu De Paume, walked the Champs-Élysées, lunched at a street side cafe, Musee Rodin, and as evening fell we went to Montmartre, Pizza by candlelight wood-fired hearth on a red checkered table cloth to match the red wine...Watching over the shoulder of a talented charcoal artist expertly crafting lampoon portraiture. And we shared each others dreams and memories in a mixture of the different languages we spoke. As evening gave way to night, I took her to Sacré-Coeur where we overlooked the beautiful and glittering city at midnight, We held hands and snuggled on a bench before heading back to the hostel. The cathedral glowed white with supernatural illumination it shined and I dare say we did too. We exchanged small gifts and addresses. I was on my way to Zermatt and she was on her way somewhere else. Sadly. the airlines lost some of my luggage including her info and I never saw her or heard from her again...but we will always have Paris and a tender kiss on the cheek - a whisper that I had given her the happiest day of her vacation. I have a photograph of Violet wearing my tan dinner jacket that day and my tie and a smile i will never forget. Although I do not need the photograph any more, I still enjoy looking at it from time to time.... |

Beachfarmer reminded me - so I waxed Nostalgic. Now I think a better title would've been "Sacre-Coeur" Did you figure out a way to watch the Olympic Hockey? i couldn't get any of the stream feeds to work |

very cool write S1ow!
I went to Paris in 2003 for 3 days. From hanging with the gargoyles on top of the Notre Dame cathedral. To standing underneath the Eiffel Tower looking up (didnt ride the elevator, wish i did). from Napoleans Tomb to the Musée d'Orsay. It all felt very rich in history and culture. |
