Please try not and stare at my wheel chair,
Try not to look away when we speak.
Its ok, I understand your feelings,
it just lets me know it bothers you.

Please try not to make jokes about my hugh size,
yes its true my sighs are bigger than you.
But even my doctors told me, there's nothing I can do.

Please try not avoiding conversations with me, because I studder. Its just me, I have tried to talk better, this, just makes it harder

Please don't remind me you see my disfigurement, by staring so.
There is a lot more to me, you might really like and want to know.

Please try and keep your sad laughs and smirks more quiet,
as not everyone in here feels your views a riot.

Please try and know I am different, and for that, I am quite aware.
Just try not to draw added attentions, through jokes or your stare..

I may not be an equal in your mind.
But I do know I am someone very special to know and to find.

Thanks Ainjel, When I was 19 years old, I drove a cab in my home town,,I was dispatched to pick up a young man who, I was told.
Iwould have to carry him into my taxi as he was in a wheel chair.
When I arrived, I opened the trunk,,and went to his door.
He answered it and I was speechless, It was a kid I had went to school with , he had been out with some other class-mates one night,,drinking having some fun,,in a pick-up truck.
Well,he fell out of it,and broke his back. He never walked again.
I carried him to my cab,,that was very akward for me as I had never carried a grown adult before..I placed him in my cab, went and got his chair,(fighting back my tears) placed it in my trunk and took him to his doctor appointment.
Through many of these rides, we shared many conversations as to how he felt and how people view him now...So through many such friends who have these indifferences,,I learned their minds to see and know,,wink. Sorry this was so long....but it has a place here...

Where I work I take care off people that were my parents friends, when I was a child...It breaks my heart to see them wheelchair bound, or bed ridden or near death...To know and feel their minds is such a good thing, and it gives you such a greater understanding...

My friends name here was Bill,,and in our scholl days he was a jock, and the girls ALL thought he was hot....
his girlfriend LEFT him right after he was told he would never walk again,,he turned to booze to deal with all of it,,he was and I hope still IS,,a great guy and friend..

It is HELL to be wanting such a small thing as to get a drink from a public fountain, yet because its ti high,,they can't.
And the minds always seem to stay very sharp,,no-matter their sufferings,,and that to is very sad....flowerforyou
