Went for a walk around the property. It was sunny and about 50 today. I was checking the fence line to be sure no trees had fallen, as we've had so much rain, the drought-injured trees are uprooting. I forsee a bunch of nice bonfires this year

I was stalked by robins. Seriously. They followed me all around the back pasture. Totally strange. Had to be about 50 birds. Spooky and odd.

You should be okay if you don't see Tippi Hedren.

Actually, that is pretty normal.

Spring is here. (maybe not for the people dealing with the snow) But, alot of birds are setting up thier nests in preparation for doing the wild thang and makin babies. They will try to usher off any thing that gets close to trees they plan on nesting in.

The mexican scissortails have come up from mexico and the same mated pairs will nest in the same branches of the same tree year after year.

The Chapparell have also been returning (road runners) which tells me that the snakes will be coming out of thier dens to make cuddly little baby rattlers, cotton mouths, copperheads and other poisonous lil tykes. Good thing that the bull snakes and road runners eat most of them.

If you wait to see the robin, you have missed the spring.

I disagree. Maybe depending on your geography, but I have been seeing robins since early January. Since then we've had about a foot of snow in two separate dumps. But, nonetheless, spring is near. Winter is past half over.

Sometimes everything migrates out and other years not so much. Two weeks ago we saw the robins swing through. I just didn't realize they had stayed that long. The property is divided by a long strip of woods so unless one walks or rides through you aren't aware of what's going on in the back. I think they ate all the rye grass seed that was thrown down. The red-tailed hawks and owls are having fun. I'm waiting for the whistling ducks to come back in and have not yet seen the roadrunners.
