today several beaches in southern israel were closed because at least two barrels of explosives washed ashure. the isreali government is also reporting two explosions at sea. the target of the attacks is unknown. it could be the israeli navy or civilian ships or they could be trying to kill tourists on the beaches of israel when they wash ashue. but the barrels could turn up anywhere in the region including muslim countries such as egypt, lebanon, and posably even turkey. hamas is considered the group most likely to have carried out the attack but denies responsibility. for more information see http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703338504575041521232295824.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLENexttoWhatsNewsThird

I sense some paranoia..what if those barrels are from a sea-accident, rolled off a ship or something? As far as I know Gaza doesn't have a navy and i seriously doubt that they somehow calculated where the explosives would wash ashore, not to mention that Gaza is right on the beach as well. There are plenty of fishing boats there who are Palestinians so this would be completely stupid to have somekind of a "floating barrel" attack against Israel.

Or what if, there was indeed a ship, carrying explosive (like fuel) and there was an accident and blew up and some of the barrels didn't ignite but just got loose and now floating all around the place?

I don't know why but when I read the title of this I pictured something along the lines of Donkey Kong.

so...where does Hamas come in? You stated nothing about them. I guess whenever something happens the jews dislike Hamas is to blame right? It couldn't possibly had been Fatah or the other 9 factions.

DK is more likely to have done it. Come on, give Hamas at least a little credit, they're smarter than that. Barrel mines? Israel has a PR nightmare going on right now, perhaps they are fueling the lies and propaganda machine to get the focus off of the Israeli gov't.

Al Jazeera just reported that two offshoot factions from Fatah is claiming responsibility for the barrels after Israel once again illegally sent two planes to destroy an abandoned air strip near the egyptian border

The first line of the article states that some in Hamas have claimed responsibility.

CNN was just reporting on this

the barrels contain about 25 lbs of explosives with a cell phone detonator

so someone has to be in sight of the bomb in order to set it off

apparently the controversial fence is preventing suicide bombers from getting into Israel. and the daily barrage of rockets fired from Gaza hasnt been really effective

the Israelis have closed off the beaches but this is the cold and rainy season so the beaches arent really crowded any way
