Cream:
2cups sugar
1cup butter Gen 18:8
3Tbsp honey Judges 14:18
6 eggs Job 6:6
1/2cup milk Judges 5:25

Add:
4 1/2cups flour
2tsp B. powder
1tsp salt Mark 9:50
3/4tsp cloves
3/4tsp nutmeg

Fold in:
2cups raisins
2cups figs or dates Jer. 24:1 and 2:3
2cups almonds

Prepare like any fruit cake. Beat batter thoroughly. Bake in small bread
pans lined and greased.

Bake 325 1 1/2hrs

7-Up Apple Dumplings

2 (7 oz.) bottles 7-Up or lime beverage
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. butter or margarine
6 med. apples
1/2 c. milk


For center of each apple: 1 tsp. cinnamon 3 tbsp. butter Combine the beverage and 1-1/2 cups sugar and 1/4 teaspoon each of cinnamon and nutmeg in saucepan, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Add 1/4 cup butter, stir until melted. Set aside. Pare and core apples, leave whole or cut in half or quarters. Sift flour, salt and baking powder and cut in shortening. Add milk all at one time and stir until moist. Roll out and cut into 6" or 7" squares. Place apple in center of each square. Combine sugar, cinnamon and sprinkle 1 teaspoon to center of each apple, dot with butter. Place in 9"x13" pan, pour syrup into pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

I see nothing funny about a scripture cake...it's been made in the south for years...usually, you have to look the ingredients up yourself in the bible by the verses given, but Toyotagirl's been nice enough to list them...what's funny is to a post a recipe for apple dumplings and not write down all the ingredients...I'd watch who I was laughing at if I were you....

Ive never heard of a scripture cake! It sounds good though.....and so do the 7 up dumplings!!!:tongue: bigsmile
