Topic: NFL Probowl. Time to call it quits? | |

Now it will be played the week BEFORE the Super Bowl, so the AFC and NFC Championship players are unable to participate.
Plus, nobody seems to want to play in it and can you blame them? Why risk injury in a meaningless game? If they are going to keep it, I suggest they make it like MLB's All Star Game and make it mean something. Have it in the middle of the year, and the winner gets to host the Super Bowl. It will never happen, but it would be cool, don't ya think? |

I agree with 100%. The game should have some sort of reward.
But dont they get paid to participate? Or am I wrong? |

I just want football to be played all year!

That is why, alot of big names are staying home (Tom Brady, Steven Jackson, etc.) I even thought about maybe making it a flag-football game, that benefits charity, but I remember some poor rookie, a few years ago, that blew his knee out, playing in some such event. |

I think the pro bowl was already dying. not many people really watch and it wasnt paying for itself
this is prolly a last ditch effort to keep it from dying making the pro bowl a part of the Superbowl buildup hype |

Unfortunately, the NFL has become more about the paycheck than the love of the game. I also fear that this is the last year for the ProBowl. It's a shame, because I find it really cool that these players get a chance to be teammates with other players they traditionally play against during the season.
The ProBowl has also become a popularity contest versus the truly greatest players of the season. R.I.P. ProBowl Side note: Kris Allen should never, ever be allowed to sing in public! |

It's not like they played hard in the probowl anyways.
I think it's ridiculous to have it the week before the superbowl. I like the idea of having it stateside that way more average people would have a chance to see it. I mean how many can go to Hawaii for a football game? |

The pro bowl has always sucked. I love the baseball all star game and basketball is just enertaining. The NFL could never duplicate that. I say let it die...........

I like the baseball all star game, as well. People complain about Bud Selig (with good reason) but I would argue, he got that decision right. I want to see the best players in baseball trying to take each other out, ala Pete Rose. Seriously. |

good thread. the pro bowl should be flushed!

I think the Aloha Stadium thing has run its course. It should be held in a different NFL city every year, and not just the Sun Belt. It's football, who cares whether the game is in Philly, Phoenix, or Foxboro, just have the game somewhere new.

Anyone watch it?
Not me. Heard it was a real yawner. But then again, when aren't they? |

yea I saw some of it, the defense for most of the game particularly the d-line let up. Late in the game and against Mcnabb the secondary seemed to play harder. From what I saw the first half and part of the third quarter it was like a team practice, no real intensity in prevention of any injuries. Pretty standard boring pro bowl stuff. I like the skills challenges. Not sure if and when the NFL does them but it was cool when they used have races, qb challenges, wr catching drills, obstacle courses. They might want to considering making an improved version of that a bigger event.

I had it on for background noise. Nothing in it really caught my attention.
