If I don't find something funny, I'm not going to laugh at it just to make him feel better. If our sense of humor is completely different, we're probably not going to get along well enough to date.

See, that's the real trick here. You two know almost nothing about each other. He doesn't know what you might find funny, you might not know what makes him laugh. So you start with general funny jokes, anecdotes and stories and you work your way out from there. It's the first date leading into the second date, there are just so many unknowns, and you don't know really what each other finds humorous if that's important to you. Just as common interests or subjects you like to discuss, it's so new and so early, it may take one or 2 or 10 dates to find out what they are interested in talking about. But then again, if they're a Trekker on the first date, then I see your point, Scotty beam me out of here.laugh

You're over thinking things. Just be you and don't worry about it so much.

Okay we do not have to sign up for the Late Night show with Jay Leno to get through a successful first date. First of all you can think of a first date as a game of battleship if you are unprepared, a bunch of hits and misses connection wise. First of all the basis of any relationship has a major center around communication as I state in other posts, therefore, communicate before the first date and accordingly plan out events or things, both of you will enjoy. Do not go into complete details about your life, basic family background, and your basic background should suffice. As you talk, listen to the woman or man's responses, did he add stuff on about something you said, a reflection from his or her own experiences or did they just try to change the subject, or say nothing? You want to try to lean towards stuff they seem more interested in talking about. If you can find out anything about them prior, such as their likes and dislikes, this can give you an upper hand on the first date.

A carefree conversation, a good sense of humor and keeping things light. If the talk gets too serious on a first date, I will assume that you are focused on being in any relationship or are a little needy.

interesting conversation, shows self respect and respect for others, shows genuine interest in me and most importantly I have to feel as if I were just talking to a lady.

physical attractiveness is a factor but it is a minor to me.

must be some physical attraction, and we must hit it off pretty good. Like genuinely get me interested and I really want to see you again, and feel that you are interested in me as well. I wouldnt make a big thing about a 2nd date tho, if it went good then near the end of the date I would say, wanna go out again? or somethin along those lines.

Second date would also depend on who planned the first date. This is especially important because if one person plans the date both times the other person seems boring. With online meeting, usually ppl arent especially close, and for me I go to the girl, instead of making her make the trip out to see me. So she plans the first date, and I would plan the second. just me tho
