Dean Koontz-Odd Hours Is that the one with the dog on the cover? If so, how was it? No it has a guy sitting on a park bench on the cover. It's a good read. I finished it in a week. Okay cool. Not the one I thought. :-) The one with the dog on the cover is, "The Darkest Evening of the Year". |

a book review for “Marry Him! The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough” by Lori Gottlieb I saw a review on that, and the thing that came to mind was how long until the resentment increases? I can see that being used against the spouse in an argument. "I settled for you, I can do better!!!" |

a book review for “Marry Him! The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough” by Lori Gottlieb I saw a review on that, and the thing that came to mind was how long until the resentment increases? I can see that being used against the spouse in an argument. "I settled for you, I can do better!!!" yeah. i started reading about the valenti book and then someone referred to the gottlieb book so i looked it up too. the funny thing is, one cant feel like they have settled for their mate!! - there is a feeling of superiority built into that. on the other hand, it is unreasonable to expect your spouse to be perfect. perfect none of us are. we all have our standards. sometimes some of us have double!! |

That's how I've always seen it, and that's what my folks have impressed upon me and they're at 37 years married right now. Certain things you don't say in a relationship, especially in an argument, whether you personally feel that way or not. I know mom has come back at friends for griping about their mates and who have said that. Her response was "If you could have done better, why didn't you?" Shuts them up fast. The book just gave me the feeling that one is sooo desperate for marriage, babies, etc that it's okay to settle whether he/she is truly compatible or not. |
