Hi BoredChick,

I would disagree. Divorce is acceptable if either party desires it. It
is a rule within many/most christian denominations that forbid divorce
except in the 2 situations you mention.

imkeys:
There are many churches out there that celebrate singles also. They
usually have singles night for those that would like to mingle with and
find those of similar faith.
Some also have special services within the church for singles.
Good luck honey.

Biblically; my understanding is that divorce is only okay if there is
adultry. Then there is death, it makes one able to remarry.
I'm not trying to start trouble, just telling what I know about what the
Bible says..

thank you Kat.. she clarified what I meant to say.

Mike from my understanding you stated

"Divorce is not a sin. Thats why its in the Bible. "

When you make a claim like this you need to explain. Otherwise it
doesn't make sense indifferent

That's all I was doing.

We were clarifying divorce on a biblical ground. There's a difference in
what one may say biblically from their own personal views.

Now my parents divorced because of drastic differences and unsettled
conflicts and I'm just fine with it.

There is another acceptable reason for divorce. That is if a believer
is married to a non-believer and the non-believer abandon's the
believer. Then it is acceptable and only then. As long as the
non-believer doesn't cheat or abandon the believer, they must stay
married.

There is divorce in my family for many reasons. I am divorced only once.
He cheated, a few times.

Such is the reason you marry within your own beliefs.

Thats exactly what I was taught scttrbrain..

But I also know if you dont agree with the bible, because you dont like
what it says!

You can look around and find someone, somewhere that will interpret the
bible to fit their needs............bigsmile

Here's a great debating tip: If you have no position, mock the other
person's position. Use straw mans until they give up out of
frustration.

Spider that's a great idea laugh

People can't take back what they give. They'll be the first to be
offended and to stir things up when someone disagrees or mocks them
