Hate taking my car into the dealership to be looked at, but it's making squeaking grinding noises. It's been doing it for a couple of months, I think shocks, but it added something this weekend.
On my way home from work Thurs morning, my car made this horrible grinding noise and jerked like the tire punctured, went flat and was running on its rim. I stopped, got out and checked it, and nothing. Looked under the car and there was this 2 inch cedar tree branch, wedged up in the springs on the back tire. Had to call dad because I couldn't yank it out, so he came out and helped get it free, I had to slowly back up to get it loose. Now the car has got an added creaking noise by that wheel, which I can hear inside the car. Guess I need to break down and take it in, since it's got all the warranties on it. Groans... |

aah a Ford.....you've said enough right there...... LOL! I'm not knocking Fords, thank you. Dad had a Ranger that he used and abused (and I mean ABUSED!) and the odometer had rolled over twice, 246,000 miles +. It was still running, but mom made him get ride of it. However, the last time I had noises on the front like this, it ended up being the struts. I just don't know on the back. |

Ask around, find some well thought of independant shop, an inspection & bid, should be cheap or free. Do the same with the dealer. Shop around & ask questions. There are alot of mechanics/ex mechanics on this site, ask for their thoughts.
Use the "HELP" thread. Asking questions NEVER hurts. |

there is a mechanic shop here in town. a friend of mine told me yrs ago that she would never take her car there for i guess her mother nlaw had nothing but problems. found out much later on my mom took her truck(which she doesnt have anymore) to that shop and her truck kept braking down. they would tell her one thing but they wouldnt tell her another. for they of course wanted her to come back. geeze i dont know how many times she took that truck in... but she finally gave up and sold the dang thing... but she found out before that the motor was bad....(WELL GEEZE you think the machanic should had fixed that.....

Almost sounds like brakes, but Focus's had a problem with coil springs breaking. Ummm, lovely. I'll get in this weekend then! Sheesh... Thanks for the info, though. |

sounds like the break pads are worn down or sticking and rubbing against your rotors..you prolly need new brakepads and your rotors resurfaced. If you choose to wait too long you may need new rotors. That could be costly.
