I don't know where to put this post. It's not of great importance, but
I'm feeling a bit nostalgic. Does anybody here remember Stuebaker's--one of the best dance places and pick-up clubs in the country? Just tell me. |

there's one at Myrtle Beach, is that the one you're talking about?

heh...when i was younger, my mother's town had a place titled that...
it was an old-fashioned soda shop, with antique cars parked in the building. |

The club I'm talking about was in Houston during the 80's. It was a
chain of sorts and did have an old car in it, but wasn't a soda shop. They had a DJ, and the favorite songs to dance to were SHOUT and RESPECT. My newly divorced friends and I went often. We went in packs of 3 or 4 and NEVER had any problems. Once one of my teacher friends and I went to a Kentucky Derby themed party there. We arrived about 1 P.M. and next thing I knew it was 2 A.M. the next day. We had spent over 12 hours at a night club. I wish I could say I was exaggerating, but it's true. If I tried that stunt now, I'd be dead. |

hehe...the place my mom lives is a town of 7000 people, and was much
less in the old days. it's also a very, very, very dry county. the building is in the historic registry as "studebaker showroom". the following link is to the actual building, years later...a virtual tour. http://menaarkansas.us/tours/Studebaker_building/ sounds like a bit of a good time, lol. thank you for bringing back fond memories. |

Of course we had a good time. Glad you remember me even without the hair. I guess the guitar gave me away. Ever get out to Gilley's? That was my side of town. |
