How are they generated and what is the criteria that the matches are based on? Is it just by location? age? Or nothing at all? I see no consistency in the ones that show up for me. Just curious.

i have often wondered that myself...but then again, i don't question it because it gives me hope to see that " maybe " someone might like me enough to click YES...lol

i think they are random, by location. nothing to do with interests or what the other person wants in a prospective mate. but like wildbill92 says, hey, it gives one hope

and hope is all that we have...so embrace it.

The selection is comes from the search preferences that a member uses.

Sorry, rose, I disagree. No, it doesn't, most of the mutual matches have only to do with being close by, not any interests. In fact, sometimes the interests are so far apart, there is no way it isn't random. (just like on singlesnet!)
Now, maybe it is supposed to be that way, but I haven't seen it to be so. Maybe it is only me? |

you are right....it's not based on interests. It's based on preferences....such as age, location etc. the same as your basic search

OH, ok, that makes more sense. But a match I would think would be more valuable if it was based on interests instead.

That's pretty much what I thought. Which, to me, means they aren't really matches. That's like me going down the street and say just because the barista in Starbucks is single and male, means we are a match. Sure it would be fun for a few free coffees, but that would get old quickly.
It would also help when you go through the mutual matches that you could click on their profile to see it quickly instead of relying on just one pic and screen name. Thanks for the answers. |

Don't forget that people can manually match with you.
If someone goes through your profile and likes what they see, they can click "Match with Her" and be placed into your Mutual Match line-up. These make up a good portion of the Mutual Match system, and are people who are actually interested in you. |

I do all the time, but I have just about matched with all of the people in my search. so, there have to been very few new people to match with. but, it is fun. haven't gotten any responses yet, though
