Take the longest route possible by taking residential side-streets and stay off the main roads. And take frequent stops. Slowly make your way home, and then when you make it home, thank God you didn't get a DUI, and promise yourself and to God that you'll never do it again. |

I don't drink...so I'm good on my part. Though, I do live in a town where drinking is THE thing to do, and they aren't smart enough to find a sober driver...heck half the time I think I'm the only sober person in this town.

6 years ago this month,My son was coming back with some friends from a school game,20 miles away...3 car loads of kids. When a drunk driver came head on tward them. The first car tried geting out of the way,but went on shoulder, and rolled car, the other 2 cars behind was able to stop. All 5 kids in first car were killed.
The drunk driver went in ditch and was fine. but was passed out.My son called me asap and I went to the scene. And if you ever see anything like that, you'll never forget it. For weeks I had kids at my home tring to cope with what happen, sitting on living room floor.tring to understand. Please don't drink and drive...call a friend to pick you up..is it really worth it. |

Thank you for sharing that. I know they show pictures of this kind of thing to high school kids to try and get them to understand, but you are right, it's not the same as seeing the real thing. I have seen some bad accidents and it's not something you forget. All were due to drinking or people screwing around at high rates of speed. |

Here the Christmas parties are either no booze and just lots of foods such as green jello with carrots sliced up in it, or "funeral potatoes" or all booze..
I'll be passing this year on all, no parties for me. |

I knew a teen boy who was the drunk driver one night. I would like to tell you that he made it home without anything happening. I would like to tell you that. But on this one night, three years ago, that boy driving drunk behind the wheel killed two college girls. And that boy has not been right ever since. Imagine being 18 and having to live with the fact that because of something stupid that you chose to do, you ended the lives of two girls. I can't imagine, and while I know what he did was wrong, I still could not even begin to know how to live with something like this. I knew what it felt like to lose a friend because of a drunk driver. Seeing the other side of it, and seeing how a drunk driver (his action) effects those he loves gave me a whole new perspective. That boy has to live with the guilt of what he did. Yes, he is still alive, and those two girls aren't. I know that makes a big difference, and I am not defending what he did. All I am saying is that I saw what a drunk drivers actions can do to those he cares about...not only what it does to the victims loved ones.
