With almost seven billion people in the world and half of them women, you'd think I'd be compatible with at least one of them.

What do you think keeps you from finding your match? smile2

Yea, there's so many so why limit yourself, right? You could have three, or four, or fifteen. Hey, the Mormans do it, so why can't you?!?!? I totally understand bigsmile

Not words of wisdom at all, I've concluded;
(1) I do not want to share my hot water bottle and duvet with anyone ever again.
(2) My double bed belongs to me.
(3) I can eat left over Chinese food for breakfast if I so desire.

(4)I can watch CSI Miami and Ghost Whisperer as many times as I like (V+ is wonderful)
(5)I don't have to hear someone claiming they are dying just because they have a cold.
(6)I'm turning into an old woman whose ambition is to grow old disgracefully, having a partner may put an end to that.

Yea, me too. I enjoy being single so much that I joined a DATING site laugh There must be some hope in there of finding someone that doesn't drive you bananas

I see your point though. Being single does have it's advantages

7,000,000,000 people, okay. We have the base of 7 billion, the U.S. alone has about 300 million of this. We can also split the sex 50/50 in the U.S. given it is about the same. This gives us 150,000,000; now we have to narrow it down by age...education...etc. Gives you roughly six in a million shot which is about 1 in 166,000. Not bad, okay, now let's take the population of a big city (Chicago for example)...in the city alone there is about 2,853,114...the number isn't very big taking into just the city not to mention the suburbs and metro area.

I move around a lot, relationships hardly work out for me. Doesn't bother me though, I date every now and then and it really doesn't work for me anyway...some of us are better off alone.smokin

Statistics make my head spin. Besides, a wise mingler here pointed out that that 97 percent of statistics are made up on the spot. 39 percent of you reading this will not agree with that statement and 81 percent of fruit flies prefer bananas to tangerines.

I prefer the larger number of three and a half billion (I did say billion) women. It sounds better to me anyway

The whole idea of joining a dating site is to date, right? Wrong !! After seeing some of the Prima Donna behaviour of some of the males (present company excepted of course) I renewed my vow of single life, but remain here for the good friends I made over the 2 and some years and the fact that every now-and-again someone makes a thread promising coffee and choc chip cookies. bigsmile

I actually just used the population of a given country (U.S.) and plugged in percentages and whole numbers where they applied. In the U.S. alone you really do have just a one in a million chance, doesn't mean it doesn't happen...just doesn't happen often.

You have to factor in pessimism when you do your statistics though. This may drastically change your numbers

Meh, everyone gets on my *** when I bring up that equation. I rarely even mention it much anymore because everyone pretty much blows it out of proportion and take it out of context. I just did it for fun.smokin
