 Do you think that physical attributes are more important to maintaining a successful relationship or do you think friendship maintains a relationship?

like these easy ones. guys fall in love with their girlfriends. you know, that sexy, flirty, feminine, pretty creature who made herself georgeous before she would even open the door for a date. we don't fall in love with a long term relationship, a future wife or mother of our children. we fall in love with our girlfriend. but all too often our girlfriend flys the coup. she becomes a wife, mother, homemaker and in todays climate a breadwinner and her new roles leave little time for being a girlfriend. i missed my last girlfriend and as the kids had been out of the picture for years and she never came back i left my then wife. she just wasn't the girlfriend i fell in love with all those years ago. could be that she lost her boyfriend long ago too i suppose and i've learned from that. so next time i fall in love with a girlfriend, i'll work on being one hell of a boyfriend. maybe she'll stick around this time.

Good looks and great sex are fine, but there has to be more.
Shared interests, compatibility, companionship.

Both, but if physical attraction isn't there I won't take the next step. Infact I won't even take them out! Yeah it's cold, but I don't date no fuglies!

well I agree with that. why should a person go out with someone who isn't attractive to them?

of course with the caveat that fugly is relative. one guys fugly is another guy's babe. but a person can't be faulted for what he is attracted to

friendship because no matter how good you are in bed it sucks to have sex then wake up and up with nothing to say then your relationship is going to be based around sex and that always leads in to cheating. and cheating always leads to every thing from a damaged car broken windshield and complete cockbockage

Friendship maintains it from my perspective and personality brings out affection. Physical attributes are good for setting the table, but eating a crappy meal with expensive silverware does'nt make it taste any better.

I think sanity maintains a relationship, when one or both parties are crazy, it won't work.

... Since 'sanity' is ever so subjective?

Perhaps to say it takes a healthy grasp of some workin' assemblance of 'reality' ...

Reality ... also so subjective... Soooooo ...

Perhaps then, that there be two persons w/ 'insanities' of a DEEPLY resonant frequency! ... laugh

... Still, what a hot mess that is then!
