I believe this is a great time to come together. No matter what holiday you celebrate this time of year or just enjoy the season.
I admit that I'm not familiar with all of the holidays, so if you would like to add how you celebrate...then please do so. I celebrate this time of year strictly as family traditions and get togethers with loved ones.

In my family, instead of buying each other gifts, we draw names and then each person picks a name off the Salvation Army tree for a needy family/child. then Christmas day, we tell the person whos name we picked what they got for someone else, its great!

one thing our whole family does as a 'tradition'...at christmas...valentines day...easter...we play the 7~11 game.....from the youngest to the oldest...two dice...a huge gift bag loaded with small gifts..ranging from one dollar to five...everyone gathers around...you throw the dice..if you get a seven or eleven...you get to close your eyes and pick one thing out of the bag...setting it in front of you...when all the gifts are gone from the bag..you set a timer for three to five minutes..depending on the size of the crowd....if you get a seven or eleven...you get to take a gift from someone elses stuff...lotts of laughter..a fun time......everyone looks forward to playing.....:)...teasingbrunette

That is an awesome idea. When I had money, my son and I would chose an angel of the tree (each) and buy gifts for them. During the good times I would take my niece and nephew to do this for them and their parents as well.
