C'mon, let's be fair to politics:

It is, after all, a high art of negotiations -- the highest form of Salesmanship -- convincing everybody else of the quality of "my apples" superceeding that of the others' -- regardless of the "apples' true quality"...

---> However, regarding the OP, that's precisely what turns the philosophers off from politics: bargainig, bartering, speculating, "pulling the wool over everybody's ears/eyes", etc. (i.e. the Salesmanship!!!)

Unfortunately, until the Humanity matures enough to the level of John Lennon's "Imagine" (i.e. universal peace and brother/sister-hood), Politics will remain the only safeguard which affords our doing what we do best -- LOVE!!!

Some people claim that they love philosophy but they are not interested in politics . I just wonder how they can arrive to this conclusion . Philosophy is the search fro the truth by means of logic . Since politics is full of lies, deception and manipulation how can one be not interested in seeking the truth there as well ?.

In my opinion I do agree spreading the word of truth is necessary in all means and walks of life, however, my philosphy has shown those who write or speak are the last ones to pick up the picket signs! The question now is, have any of you people participating in a protest against a government organization or affiliate? My answer is obviously yes.

Almost every man I come accross wants me bending down -- for one reason or another...

Are you sure your cause is worth the bending down to pick up the picket signs? ? ?

Politics is a way of doing things. Philosophy is similar, but more general. Politicians usually have philosophies they are using political tools to try to bring reality to.

As far as what started this thread, a lot of people say a lot of stuff, often as not, just to have something to say. It's pretty popular to say you don't like politics, or you don't care about philosophy. That's usually just talk. I've observed that MOST people have philosophies, they just don't give their collection of assumptions and lessons learned a name. Most people do political stuff, in their private lives as well as when they are thinking about voting. They don't call it politics usually, but since the "presentation" aspects are the same, they might as well.

Here' a wise saying:
One can do philosophy without politics,
but no one can do politics wthout philosophy!!!

(just as one cannot make love without feelings --
in which case it's just screwing, or mutual masturbation!) laugh
