Topic: what would you do.... | |
---|---|
scenario:
2 girls (approximate ages are 4 and 6) are playing in the street. Cars drive on this residential street often and they are near the end of the street, where a car turning the corner onto the street may not see them. The parents are no where to be seen. When the parents go outside, it is to smoke on the porch (again not watching the kids) keep in mind these kids could be run over, kidnapped, hurt, lost, whatever. I called the cops. I make no apologies for this. I seem to care more about their safety than the parents. What would you do and why? |

I would do the exact same thing as you did!! Or call cps, cuz if the parents aren't watching them, they are unfit!! JMO!!

I have done the same thing. I was driving and right there on the curb was a little girl about 3 yrs old NO PARENT around!!! Anything can happen in a second and lives changed forever. Good for you girl for calling, hopefully the parents will now realize the dangers they put their children in.

I did think of calling CPS but I am hoping the cops put fear into them and they will act like parents....then again they may not. But I would rather take the heat for calling the cops than to have something happen to the kids.
My grandmother almost ran over the youngest one. The girl was in the middle of the street that ours runs into. She was playing in the nasty water after it rained. She is so small that my grandmother could barely see her. Luckily she did. and my grandmother drives slow normally as it is. She told the little girl she needs to get out of the street because she didn't want her to get hurt. The child didn't. My grandmother laid on her horn to hopefully get the parents (she didn't know where the child lived) The dad just ignored my grandmother, called the child, then the dad went back inside is there anyone that would have done different? |

I don't think you did anything wrong. You ask if anyone would have done things differently just a bit, yes. I would have went to the parents, let them know how worried you were about the little ones, since you had observed that they had almost been hit a few times. When the parents blatently disreguarded what I had to say I would then have not only called the police I would have called the local Children Services with dates and times that this is occurring. I also might push it to where I had another neighbor or two for the documentation since authorities seem to listen with more than one complaint. Sad to say nothing likely is going to happen til a tragedy occurs. |

More than likely (knowing these new people) something would have happened. Trust me. I have tried to (nicely) talk to them about being drunk and loud at 4 am outside. |

Normally I would try to say something to someone. The problem I have is that these days....you don't know who you are confronting. But I see your point |

Agreed .
You did what any responsible person would do in such a case . The kids' safety and security are very important . Crazy people should not have kids to stat with . . |

But I see your point That is very true, and where I live on a small island I guess I forget that alot of times. I have lived small towns for way to long so my perspective maybe somewhat slanted. Where I live I at least am on a some type of hello how are you level with my neighbors. I am still sorry that you had to go through that trying to protect children that parents don't seem to care. |

I would probably do the same thing...& fight the urge to punch the parents in the face. No child should be neglected |
