The only "traditional" idealism in my life is dating and courtships.

It's a personal preference. Either way, one doesn't make the other wrong.
Just because someone is "old fashioned" doesn't mean it's a bad thing. I'm old fashioned and I'm perfectly fine with it. To each his/her own

I never thought that asking was so much a job as a priviledge. I have always thought if a man is not secure enough to take the lead in a relationship with me by asking for a date then he doesn't get who I am at all. Since I can clearly project the view of who I will welcome in my life I don't see it as such a risk to approach me for something as non-comittal as a simple date.

is the man job to ask women for date If it's a job, it pays really poorly. Starvation wages, that won't even get me a payback on the busfare one way downtown. Because, basically, I asked 3,447 women on the sites in my 4 years of Internet-dating activity, and the payback has been... well... dismal. Nada. Not even a pittance. |

It's the 21st century It could be either or. If a girl is interested in a guy she should ask him out, otherwise it may be 2 late.

Taking a girl golfing or to the driving range for a first date should also appeal to men. What better way to polish the shaft and clean the balls?

I think it can go either way. I think men in general are "expected" to ask the women on a date and that is where some people get stuck in role playing.

Ive asked a lot of women out and seldom turned down in my younger days. ( I wish i could say the same for now.) However, The two women i married asked me out. Later told me when it was time to get married. They also told me when it was time to get divorced. I was alwayse very obediant.
