Yes they still are. My dad was my hero when he was living, and still is today now that he has passed. I sure do miss that man.

My grandpa - he was an incredible man. He will always be my hero, died 1 week short of his 97th birthday. He taught me about kindness, patience and love, qualities I didn't get anywhere else in my life.
I know this probably isn't what you meant -- I grew up in the "Mickey Mouse Club" era, not too many super heroes back then, unless you count Goofy, Mickey, Minnie and the rest. |

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I never had one. When I got older and actually started appreciating things, I would say my hero would be my older brother. |

My late Uncle Al.
Used to go on his boat cruising thru the water just he and I. Taught me how to play poker with pennies when I was just 7 yrs old. Gave me my first and only real nickname,Moe,I still have to this day, but only for close friends and family. God I miss him sooo much |

My childhood heroes died when I was 10 since then i believe in the imperfect human beings that i get to know.

I had admirers, but not really heroes. My parents are my heroes. My late grandmother and Princess Diana were my admirers as a child.

I didn't have heroes then and I don't now.
"Hero" status is fantasy based: Superman, Batman, and Underdog I look up to and respect people with a good heart, integrity, bravery, ambition, intelligence kindness, and who live by the Golden Rule. I aspire to find friends who possess these qualities and I try as well. Some people define heroes in terms of their job. While I admire and honor soldiers, firefighters and law enforcement, I don’t categorize them as heroes. Most of the people IN those positions DO NOT consider themselves heroic both because that is their career -- and they are not superhuman. I feel strongly that most people in the aforementioned careers do things many others will not do; however, I still don’t immortalize them as heroes. We have super-citizens that CANNOT leap tall buildings in a single bound, but they can save a kitty from a tree! I guess I'm not into false expectations and over-sensationalizing flesh and blood. |

Never had one, I don't have one now. Now I just have respect for people who can overcome adversity without becoming bitter, jaded, or violent.
