Good fight all around though, kind of surprised Fedor had his nose broke from the get-go...saw the second round before it happened, Rogers kept making the same mistakes so it was only a matter of time before Fedor capitalized on it. Speaking of, I'm not all that sure why he didn't take advantage of it in the first round. |

I still want to see a Fedor-Lesnar fight...waiting patiently I think it is inevitable

The sport is truly like chess; however I feel there is too much poor criticism, for example, if Fedor knock him out in the first they would have called it an over-booked match, if it went to the judges they would have said he was losing his touch. The pleasure is in watching the game unfold. At my age I can enjoy it much more as I realized when I still wrestle, your mind tells you to quick make this move and your body says what? I am too tired. I have learned to calm down and enjoy the fights instead of second guessing the fighters. LOL

Fedor needs a good opponent, but there will probably never be a fight between Fedor against anyone from the UFC due to contracts. Strikeforce recently signed with EA for their game, UFC hates EA...I just wish Wanderlei would get out of the UFC and go to DREAM or something where he can do damage, UFC is soaking him of his skills. |

Otherwise he is just a child with big arms. |

Speaking of, I'm not all that sure why he didn't take advantage of it in the first round. He was pretty emotional, although the guy had a real chance at shocking the world. He broke Fedor's nose with a jab. It seems with some more fights under his belt, more training in mma and he will be trouble for anyone looking to stand up and swing with him. When he had Fedor on his back he threw some terrible strikes, then Fedor snapped into destroy mode when he becomes unstoppable. |

The biggest problem I had with Rogers is that he didn't touch gloves or congratulate Fedor on the win, he pretty much expected he was going in and going to take the fight. He made a few critical mistakes, for one he didn't use his reach advantage and kept coming in on Fedor (which if you watch past fights of Fedor is a hefty mistake), he also pretty much did the same thing throughout the fight and I'm not sure why Fedor didn't capitalize on it in the first round...Rogers timing was predictable and almost like clockwork, Fedor waited for the armbar in the first round and timed it with near perfection (he should have blocked the blows he was taking though).
Fighting in MMA as I'm sure you know is a lot about timing and being able to throw off your opponent, Rogers lacks both. He is going to need serious training for quite awhile before he can bang with the likes of Fedor again. Fedor only has one loss which is controversial to begin with, 30 wins before that fight and one draw. You can't expect to go into that fight and come out the victor, all you can do is give it your best shot and maybe you get a lucky shot in...although Fedor didn't seem to have the intensity he has displayed in previous fights and I'm not quite sure why. |

You make some good points. I agree with you on his sportsmanship, immature. he acted like he wanted to fight during the post fight interview, immature and emotional. Fedor seemed willing to give him a rematch, although he hurt his hand and of course the nose so it will probably be a while until and if they fight again. In no way am I comparing shogun with rogers, but very strange how two of the best in mma faced real adversity in their most recent fight. Machida hurt his hand and I can only guess as too what damage his ribs and legs suffered. All in all I thought Fedor played Rogers game, it just so happens that Fedor is no push over to say the least at trading hay makers. Fedor's intensity creeps up, there's a point in the few fights Ive watched of his where he seems to snap, Andrei Arlovski, Tim Syvia, and one of the most entertaining fights Ive seen and laughed hard as I watched him snap, then pull the ligaments in Kevin Randlemans arm after Randleman slammed Fedor awkwardly on his neck. Too bad the UFC is now like Wal-Mart, I would love to see Machida, Shogun, or Anderson Silva fight Fedor for a pound for pound unification belt.
Do you watch boxing? If so, who do you like in the Pacman vs Cotto fight. |

Not really into boxing as much as I'm into MMA, UFC is a lot like a kids sport nowadays. The Machida/Shogun fight I didn't catch cause I worked that night but from what I hear it was a tough fight to score, Machida answered just about every leg kick with a punch to the head and while he did get pretty damaged from the leg kicks I have to side with a few MMA fans when I say the head punches probably did a bit more. Either way though there will be a rematch as the UFC will definitely try to capitalize on the success of that fight once again...UFC sucks anymore though, really sucks that they bought out Pride (still have DREAM though).
All I've really seen from Fedor is highlights and past matches, this was the first time I caught a live fight and was able to watch him in full. He played Rogers easily, but he does lack the intensity he used to have given he didn't end this fight in the first which he typically does. I've seen the Tim Sylvia fight and Kevin Randleman, both excellent fights...I thought the Randleman fight was funny too, tit for tat in that one. |

I AM VERY UNIMPRESSED WITH FEDOR'S CHOICES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS. HE DODGES THE UFC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION BROCK LESNAR TO FIGHT A LESSER BRETT ROGERS. I THINK FEDOR IS A GREAT FIGHTER BUT THOSE WHO CONSIDER HIM NUMBER ONE ARE GAY. IF YOU WANT TO BE THE BEST THEN YOU HAVE TO FIGHT THE BEST, AND THE BEST ARE ALL UNDER UFC CONTRACTS.

BS...UFC is crap, has been crap for the last couple of years. Brock probably won't be coming back after his bout with this current illness, as much as I hate the guy I really hate to see such a competitor go down like that. The reason Fedor won't fight with UFC is because they won't copromote with his company M-1 Global. Simple stipulation and had White's dumber than hell *** taken the contract that way we would have seen Fedor fight in the UFC. As it stands, Fedor is the greatest MMA fighter to date...he has stood with a lot of big hitters (some currently under UFC contract) and knocked them down. He is 31-1-1 and the loss is debateable, you don't get that kind of scorecard by lying down. UFC is dying, and quick, they keep using the fighters they do have so much so that the fighters are dropping like flies...Dana White bit off more than he can chew and it is biting him in the *** now. |
