Topic: is life so boring in belgium? | |

What a load of crap !
I've been all over the world and I've never been bored anywhere. If you're bored in Belgium it means you'll be bored anywhere because you lack the skills to enjoy yourself. |

Well said, I believe one has to look at the way to enjoy a place for what it is. I don't know much the whole of Belgium. But as a European , I love Brussels, you find people from anywhere and at the end the wheather does not matter really. It is so cosmopolite! You have to search the places to meet people but there is so much to do here in such a small town as a European Capital. I have been here for over 12 years and I would not go back to my hometown even being paid for that!

Right you are! As being a capital of Europe, it should have been a welcoming and clean state...have you noticed how dirty it is in brussles?
Ih and about the native Belgians (Flanders) , the majority of them are racist and closed minded which don't want know what's going on in the world. Not a civilised charactor people on a civilized country. Well have been here for more than 7 yrs and moved 12 times in Flanders so am talking from experience. |

Sadly there really is quite some frustrations that has build up on the flemish side and the results of votes are there....so yes...you are right. But I do have hope that Belgium eventually manages to overcome that "slight" division. |

:-D I wish I could. .
Well my kids are born here and speak fluent dutch. That's why I decided to just carry on...Love the friendly Wallonia to live with friendly people there where neighbors say " Bonjour" rather than seeing you with jealousy eyes huh...what a difference. .. |

I agree with you totaly.it is boring,it's hard to get thruough to New people even if u speak vlaams, and yes racism, classism, all that the best thing to do is find activities that r fun to do alone...otherwise ull wait 10 years to speak to a neighbour let alone make a friend!

is life so boring in belgium? generally, i guess not. but asking for my opinion, i will say yes. came from london to exploit life in general in ghent and six weeks on, nothing spectacular to write about in my diary only to write about how i spend the whole time alone. am i so tht boring? no way. may be language aspect of it is the barier. b4 i came, i thought it's high time i got cracking with my social life tht i ve abandone for quite a while. but the other side is the answer. looking for a friend and may be i could find my luv through tht. suprisingly, no friend yet let alone a serious and committed relationship. pls, dont ask me my motive in joining this comely website. i hope my conclusion in my report at the end of the day is not going to be how belgium has been boring for me bcos generally, i guess, belgium is a nice place to be. Belgium may be quite a bore but you sire have to find places. Belgium has a lot of nice little spots that are nice and stand out from the rest. Make sure to find someone who would like to show you these and then enjoy :) |

It all depends on you, not on the place you're in. For a person who's prone to grousing, anyplace is going to be a boring place full of unfriendly people.
For somebody who's so demanding on what's supposed to be "fun", there won't be many places on this planet that aren't boring. Whether Brussels is clean or not, has nothing to do with 'boring' or 'fun'. That's not fair, nor logical. "Yeah, Belgium is boring, have you seen how dirty Brussels is?" I mean, where's the link between the cleanliness of a city and its fun potential? Seriously! Brussels is dirty because it is full of people from all over the world, who speak a million different languages and do as they please, throw everything on the streets and never clean their houses. The real astate prices and rents are so unaffordable that everywher, people have to make do with the most terrible dumps and can't spare a eurocent for restoration. Besides, you could have observed, if you had wanted, that where cleanliness and order is concerned, Brussels is an island in Belgium. Because it is the capital of Europe, it's a lot harder to govern than Flanders or Wallonie. But believe me, if you know where to look, there are a million of wonderful things to see and do there. Just by sitting and looking around at the littered streets and be grumpy is'nt very amusing, that is true. There is something wrong with one who thinks everybody in Wallonie is friendly and everybody in Flanders is jealous or ignorant! People who think like that will hate it anywhere, since they're generalizing too much. Racists, you'll find them anywhere. Don't tell me there aren't any of those in Ireland or the UK! It boils down on what you're expecting, really. If you want a country that's Monte Carlo, Broadway and Las Vegas at the same time, I've got sad news for you... there's no such place in the world. |

hello everybody. Belgium is not more boring than another country. first of all Belgium is a country with differnet erea's and towns. from the ardennes to the coast. in nearly every town ther is a basi fit center when people can come to sport every day at a price of 25€ pro month. it is just question to know where to go and to find the right people. The country is plenty with tavernes, sportcenters, cinema's, restaurants and other.

if you know the right people there is a lot to do. If you really want to enjoy Ghent you have to come in July at the Ghentse feesten. all the town is plenty of activities, parties, festivals and other. millions of visitors from everywhere. i travell a lot in the world and there are boring moments everywhere. in some countries its to hot to do something in other to cold. depends also on the seasons. thats life.....

I'm moved from Ireland to Belgium three years ago for work and I hate the place.. People are pure ignorant and to be honest I'd say racist aswell.. Unless ur from Belgium ur **** in their eyes!!! And nothing ever goes on over here.. They are just plain flat boring!!!! They prefer to sit at home watching telly and talking about people.. Ha That tells everything about... yourself ! :-) :-) (Check the mirror, as a suggestion) |
