I was going to give out candy as I always do, but I recieved a notice from my landlord this morning, that states my neighbors have a bed-bug problem!! She told me not to get near them. Enter their house, get face to face, sleep over, which I never would anyway, etc. They spread by clothing, sitting on the couch, or when the person enters your home. The landlord told me, just put a note on my door saying I have no candy this time!! What do you think?? |

I fought head lice with my kids all through the school allowing a child to be in class who had head lice, not once, but three times,,, I had to go to her school and ring some necks to get them to be on it....But it didn't make us dirty or to be looked down at by anyone,,,its life,wink.. ,plus, your land lord is at fault for not spraying so the bugs couldn't dwell there,,and for giving out that imformation freely.. trust me, I think your be safe,,,,, |

I think I would be giving notice and moving. Don't think I would tell the next landlord why you were moving though because they might not rent to you.
I would think this landlord can not announce your neighbor's situation to other tenants but that a health inspector could post notifications. And even require immediate treatment. And require alternative houseing to any residents effected because it seems like and uninhabital situation. If you have entry way carpet I would go to the store and get some spray immediately. This points out the danger in dumpster diving or buying upolstered furniture from yard sales. |

Yep. Like Brenlee said, keep the lights off. At least porch light and front room(s). The given signal around here growing up was if the porch light was on, they had candy to give. Then again, this was decades ago when trick-or-treating was at night!
You can send any 'excess' candy my way. :P I've never had bedbugs (or roaches, rats, or anything else, other than a ladybug infestation that was going through my area), but I hear they're a b1#$h to get rid of. I'm not sure how easily they migrate, but might want to look into that and if the landlord thought it was that much of an issue to not even give out candy, have the exterminator check out your place. At his/her expense of course! |

You might have a chair and sit out side when kids walk by and hand out candy from side walk, and state that it's from all tenants.get other tenants to donate $$ to pay for treats
