It is said that one of the U.S. presidents was not a U.S. citizen at his time of death: John Tyler the tenth president, a Virginia native, died on January 18, 1862 a citizen of the Southern Confederacy.

What is your conclusion on this? Was he a U.S. Citizen or not?

Considering secession never really happened, he was still a citizen.

If secession would have happened he would not have been.

Then I need to write a letter to the author of this book I am reading. Sheeshh! A armchair trivia book that states as a FACT that he was not a U.S. Citizen. I guess he didn't do his research?

Thanks for the info Dragonessdrinker

Your welcome.

I find secession funny. "I don't want to be part of the country anymore but I am taking the land with me"...lol

Interesting

I looked him up on Wikipedia and it made no mention of him not being a citizen.
There are actually some interesting things about him.

Makes me wonder where the author of the book got his info?

Oh wow too many to write to concerning this question from this book. There are many who take credit for this book.

It mentions that there are factual verifications by Lawrence Greenberg, Jennifer J. MCune Ph.D. , Marci McGrath, Regina J. Montgomery, Christy M. Nadalin, Helen Ervin Schinske, Chris Smith, and J.K. Kelley.

sheeshh!

Nevermind. I guess they have their reasons to believe this to be true. drinker
