yup - nasty stuff that was. The question is how long until the Government actually offers an apology and compensation. There were a half a dozen voluntary vaccines used in the 60's and 70's that had various forms of Alum in them that they are now linking to Alzheimer's and a couple forms of cancer. Thats half the reason it's pretty much impossible to find aluminum cooking pots anymore and the teflon they coated the aluminum with is turning out to be even worse for you.

Not in deodorants - forms of alum are used as the active agent in antiperspirant. They're still trying to determine if it's possible to absorb enough through your skin to cause an adverse effect. I know a lot of people who have stopped using antiperspirant because of the alum content and have switched to using milk of magnesia as a deodorant. The base elements are very similar to each other but the magnesium hydroxide in milk of magnesia is only known to cause problems with over usage by direct ingestion of fairly large doses.

Magnesium Hydroxide if ingested regularly can block the absorption of folic acid and iron and that can lead to other health issues like ovarian cysts or ovarian cancer and anemia.
