Topic: Profiles: what are some common problems

can you name?

I see a few

But again, It's only my opinion, so don't crucify me if you have a different opinion.

Since i only look at women profiles I can't comment on guys and I don't have any plans to do so in the future. winking

Ok here it is:

1. Lots of stuff that (I think) most guys just scroll through. Stuff like font-art or whatever you call it, if i see that, I just begin to scroll down.

2. Crazy pictures. (my opinion again), there is normal, and there is normal, which isn't normal for others. The "normal" depends on mostly what the profile owner would call "normal", others don't call it that...

3. No pictures or faded fuzzy and hard to make out pictures.

4. Ok, this might sound weird to some, but guys are actually shallower than women. (you heard it). Looks counts a lot, and also self-esteem and positive attitude and belief in herself in a way that she is proud of how she looks whatever she may look. This is actually more important than looking "good" and pretty like a tabloid model. Actually (my opinion) most guys don't trust very good looking women, knowing that she gets a lot of hits and there is a lot less chance to get her, or simply intimidating so the guys won't even try to make any contact, beyond just nudges and a few emails. They seem unreachable. (I know this for a fact)

5. You must have something in your profile. (I think) most guys want to know what you do, but don't go into crazy details. It's enough that we know that you do something. If you are good in arts (photo, drawing etc) then we wanna know. If you are good at cooking , knitting, you're black belt karate master, we wanna know. We wanna know if you are into sports.

6. What we don't wanna know (I think  ) Your previous sex life or how many boyfriends you had or how much you hate him for whatever reason. Why? Because most guys immediately put themselves in their shoes and see themselves getting the same treatment if something goes wrong with the relationship and - sounds weird again - they rather avoid you.
We don't wanna know of certain bodyparts how they look like or what you do with it, keep us having fantasize instead, most guys are good with fantasy and their mind goes to the gutter more times than womens' mind.

7. Shocker. It's enough if you tell us that you have kids and you love them. Every guy knows that women love their children, we have or had a momma too. Don't over push this, don't worry we know! Don't make your whole profile based on the fact that you love your children more than anything and nothing can stop it. We know! We (guys) do not want your children taken away from you, neither we want to stop you from loving them. We won't be jealous, and we realize that you won't give up on them. But you also understand that it's a different love..if you haven't so already.

8. Spelling. It's normal to make spelling mistakes, but don't L3t4 talk or whatever that is..and at least make an attempt to spell a few words correctly. Universal problem, I'm sure.

9. Do you speak another language? Let us know. I know- for fact- that there are many of us who speak more than one language, and I would say the Spanish would be the 2nd largest group, but if you are a native Spanish speaker and also speak English, mention it.

Ok. I'm ready now to be crucified, so I stop here, there are many more things, but since I'm not getting paid for this time used on this (unlike those who do for paid dating sites) I'm gonna stop here. Well, at least appriciate, that i spent about 20 min typin this out for no charge. waving

I'd never crucify ya
Or argue....

I take profiles for what they are

The person

Nothing more. Nothing less

They write what they write. I take it from there!

I hate giving advice about it. Really!!!

Spelling and grammer. Does not bother me at all

Pics?

One. Two. Three or more. I don't care !!

But boy do I love perving them!!!

I got this today in my e-mail...

How would you pronounce this child's name?

She spells her name..... "Le-a"
So... how would YOU pronounce her name?

Leah? ..................NO.
Lee - A? ...............NOPE.
Lay - a? ...............NOT A CHANCE.
Lei?.....................NICE TRY...BUT... GUESS AGAIN!

This child attends a school in Livingston Parish, LA.. Her mother is irrate because everyone is getting her name wrong. She says it's pronounced................. "Ledasha".
When the Mother was asked how in the world did she figured it should be pronounced that way....... she said....
..."cause the dash don't be silent!"
So, if you see a name come across your desk like this... please remember to pronounce the dash.
And.. if anyone axe you why, tell them it's 'cause the dash don't be silent!
Someone... pleeeeze, pleeeze tell me dis don't be true! Surely, someone be's jokin' with us?!?!
They live among us, they vote

This is so perfect! I agree with everything you said. From a woman's perspective I think it's fair to say that we would like to see more than INTERESTS: watching t.v. and PROFESSION: working. I picture someone layed up in intensive care or living in the desert in a trailer with wood paneling. But, different strokes for different folks. Thanks for the insight!flowerforyou

"I'm an open book, ask anything you want." I skip over those profiles.

Spelling mistakes! Run your profile through spell check first.

Yeah, besides that, I also think that women would be just fine with a paragraph really. Poems and all that stuff (unless you wrote it!) are not necessary.

Ok here it is:

1. Lots of stuff that (I think) most guys just scroll through. Stuff like font-art or whatever you call it, if i see that, I just begin to scroll down.

I'm a guy, and I would really like to see some profiles that were worth not scrolling through -- however, the sheer abundance of cliches makes this a rare occasion!

Personally, I love the profiles where you get a real sense of who the person is, what matters to them, what they're looking for, and what their life is like....as opposed to "I like to go out or stay in" or "I love my family and friends."

2. Crazy pictures. (my opinion again), there is normal, and there is normal, which isn't normal for others. The "normal" depends on mostly what the profile owner would call "normal", others don't call it that...

My issue is with people who post pics of more than one person and never bother to tell you which one is actually the member of the site.

Cleavage shots and "giant-butt-in-camera" shots don't do anything for me.

A non-normal pic might actually be a good thing, if it showed some thought and creativity.

3. No pictures or faded fuzzy and hard to make out pictures.

This isn't a huge thing for me, but it would be nice to see who I'm "looking at."

Well, I guess it depends on how you define "good-looking woman." I've gotten to the point where I can pretty much tell a scammer just by the pic (I'm really good at this!), and a lot of scammers use the traditional sort of "high-class model" pic in order to lure people in.

And, you're right, I never trust those.

See, I want to know as much as possible. This is just an individual preference, but I love longer profiles (provided the content justifies the length). They're rare, though, because it's so much easier to write "I don't know what to write here."

If it sounds like this is a habitual behavior, yeah, that can be a red flag.

We don't wanna know of certain bodyparts how they look like or what you do with it, keep us having fantasize instead, most guys are good with fantasy and their mind goes to the gutter more times than womens' mind.

If it comes across as too blatantly suggestive, I get the idea that this is eventually going to lead to "Come see my naughty pics at the following site...."

The TAMW syndrome -- "I'm a single mother of three kids and They Are My World." It seems strange to me that anyone would even feel the need to say this -- I would think it's an automatic assumption. Still, I'm not a parent and I don't date parents, so what do I know?

8. Spelling. It's normal to make spelling mistakes, but don't L3t4 talk or whatever that is..and at least make an attempt to spell a few words correctly. Universal problem, I'm sure.

Absolute turn-off. I take the time to make sure that my spelling and grammar are correct. I make typos but I catch most of them before I post. But when I see the perpetual misuse of "loose" and "lose," of "to" and "too" and "two," when I see someone looking for a "sweatheart," well, it's lost its amusement value.

Unless I use it in OGP.

9. Do you speak another language? Let us know. I know- for fact- that there are many of us who speak more than one language, and I would say the Spanish would be the 2nd largest group, but if you are a native Spanish speaker and also speak English, mention it.

Couldn't hurt.

Actually people with a terrible spelling can easily go around if they get a little more "techie."

Use firefox browser, which will underline the wrongly spelled words and right clicking on the underlined word will throw up a bunch of suggestions which word you wanted to write.

I know, i get away with it too, and meanwhile i learn how to spell it correctly. drinker
