I'm gunna have a BIG ol party when my divorce is final...... my "husband" treated me like crap for a LONG time..... cared for no one really but his self and made me feel like I didn't diserve love. I had to do everything for him while he did just about nothing for me. So some people need to celebrate... because it is a good thing

My husband abused me for 6 years. He is now in Fed Prison. It took me 8 years to find "me" again. Does that justify me having a divorce party? NO, it doesn't. There are still other's feelings involved! Yours, the kids if any, and everyone else. You must have loved him at one time! What is there really to celebrate?

I am sorry for what you went through. But as for me, Yeah I loved my husband, and I will always have a small place for him in my heart. We have a a kid together..... and no she wont come to the party or know anything about it. But I have had soooo many years where I have been sad and beaten down mentally, that I just want a night of drinks and friends to kick off my new life... not to end the old one. So I guess I wont REALLY be celebrateing the the divorce as much as I will be celebrating a new begining.

I may actually get some sleep tonight, always exciting for an insomniac

Maybe "celebrate" isn't quite the right description, but it can certainly be a positive move forward. I "celebrated" my 12th anniversary by putting his things outside (neatly packed...none of that tossing crap out the window stereotype) and it SURE didn't feel celebratory at the time! Years later, I know it was the best gift I could have ever given myself, though. All's well that ends well!
