I am very doubtful whether history shows us one example of a man who,having stepped outside traditional morality and attained power,has used that power benevolently.

Hi cy. But then, who is to define traditional morality? I know you are quoting old C. S. Lewis there, but in this day and age, with so many different ideas of morality from so many religions and pundits, that in itself could cause ambiguity in definition.
