Do the same rules of dating etiquette apply that existed 30 years ago? Does a woman wait for the man to call? Should a woman make contact after the first meeting to thank him or wait until he contacts? Does a woman ever make first move for a kiss, hand holding?

The social evolution of the ME NOW identity/generation has unfortunately created a vaccuum in the expectations of men and women.
I believe that opening the door for a lady is less a right for her and more an honour for me. Flowers following a date is as much a joy in my choosing them as it is for her in receiving them. Then there is the thank you phone call, not a text, and the opportunity for asking for another date. Holding hands? Now that is the begining of all sorts of wonder.
Etiquette is the begining of grace in a relationship and it may well go on forever.

Etiquette...what's that?
Things have changed so much in the past 30 years that it might as well be a different planet. whoa

There are no longer hard and fast rules as to what is expected from a man or a woman...other than those guidelines applying to general human decency, of course.

Usually you can tell if things are going well by the end of the first meeting. If you got along great, he will usually hint at another meeting. Or call you by the next couple days. If things are going well it doesn't matter what you do. But if you have had alot of friendly phone conversations before meeting in person, it is reasonable for you to call him.
If things are questionable, I like to send an email...friendly, non-committal, just to test the waters. One email. His response to that will help determine the next step. If there is no answer, that also is an answer.

If you were introduced to the person through a dating site, he will probably kiss you at the end of the first meeting....(most men do, but not all.) I have never had to make the first move. If there is no chemistry there, you probably will not hear from him again.

Keep in mind, everybody is different. So one can't predict for sure what will happen in any circumstance. So just be friendly, be yourself, and do what is comfortable for you.

And good luck. It can be scary getting out there again after many years....but it is exciting and challenging too..

Why are these guys so far away!!!!!!!! I do think that we can follow our feelings to a degree. Also, you allow people to treat you as they do....if it is good, wonderful; if not, you put a stop to it.

Life is scary....but you can't just sit on the sidelines.
My advice would be:
Stop contemplating and get in there.
Life is short. Don't miss your window of opportunity.

And just be yourself. Because it is what you do best.
And nothing else counts anyway.

Best of luck to you, sister...flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou
