MIAMI -- Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's anti-venom unit made a monster catch Saturday.

A 13-foot Burmese python was found in a field at a nursery at 202nd Street and 164th Avenue.



Workers were spraying weeds when they stumbled upon the huge snake.

Firefighters were able to capture it and bring it to a nearby fire station.

The snake was so large, it took five people to lift it up.

The snake will likely be used for training and research.

I lived in the Philippines when I was little so I have a phobia abut them

i used to collect yard snakes that was the farthest i would go
i even took one to caticism class. i had it in the jar and one of the girls that was in my class let it out in the restroom.. of course i got it back.

yrs ago in the shopping mall they had a boa that some how got out of the pet store and they found it in montgomery wards

I've been a fan of snakes since I was about 8. Used to catch Garter, Bull, and racers as a kid then when in my teens started catching Rattlers and would keep them for a few months to watch, and study them then let them go where I found them

I absolutely LOVE snakes, always have even when I was little. At a place that I worked at this Summer with my son I found a Copperhead that I caught and held for a few minutes...he was beautiful. Of course I didn't know it was a Copperhead until like three days later, but, I'm always careful when I handle snakes anyway.

Also, a couple years ago, I caught a Spotted Adder in the place we lived. I put him in a container, took him for a ride to some woods, and let him go. It was a baby, only about 2 1/2 feet long, beautiful though.

I need ya'lls phone numbers...the next time I see a snake I'm calling you guys to get it and to pull me down from whatever I climbed on to get away from it

That's too funny. I can remember when I was a kid hearing my mom and grandma telling me not to go too near the snakes, and me taking off after them to try to catch them.

that's when I'd be running away. we were trapped in our house in the Philippines once and had to wait for people to come out to get snakes. I don't like rodents either and to me a possum looks like a mutant rat but I have no problem with worms, bugs or spiders. I'm weird

Ok, call me for the snakes, and I'll call you for the spiders. When I see a spider, I swear something short circuits in my brain...it's not pretty to say the least.

she was on the phone one time and i walked in with my hamster in my hand and she freaked out.. come its not going to hurt.. my mom was not a fan of animals.. she ok with my sister dog, as long as the dog stays outside

i used to play with red ants.. those things actually bite...
i played with spiders not all but some like daddy long legs i even remember one time i pulled there legs off.. humm
i even collected frogs, salamanders. salbugs
and our neighbor behind us had turtles(the big ones that you could ride on) and they would come into are yard so we would keep them.

reptiles don't bother me either.

Now see, I used to play with all the bugs when I was little too, I rode them around in the little cars and trucks, then I started being terrified of spiders. I love salamanders too, I used to catch them in the pond behind our house during the Summer and keep them for a while, then set them free, never had a turtle or frog, though I thought the frogs and tadpoles were fascinating.

i had a salbug in my hand one time and i was walking up the street and it had babies in my hand so i let them go in the dirt
if i recall right even collected ladybugs

it's kinda funny if you think about it. what scares one person is no big deal to someone else.

I'm also scared of heights and storms. come to think about it...my phobias all had to do with my childhood. boy i'm a chicken ****

im not scared of heights, but my mom is
for some reason if someone has a large sharpe knife out, i back away now i can deal with a small steak knife no problem...
