Maybe the adoptive family can pick it up or split the vet cost with you?

I love cats...always had them...but as Garrison Keillor said - actually sang - "I'd rather live in poverty than travel with my cat" laugh One traveled 18 hours in a car with two - not one - cats that meowed one every three seconds for the entire trip. That was after the vet administered a sedative. I had to separate them because these brothers from the same litter usually got along...starting fighting as they were meowing. When I took one out of the carrier, which they shared...he peed on my cell phone. It was a great trip! laugh

I guess I must have had a pretty cool cat...I'd take him to the grooming shop where I worked every day & he'd just ride on the back of my headrest... He'd only get in trouble when he tried to beat up on a poodle on my table...*shrug* That's what they get for being a poodle...

Hi Biglife, yes the adoptive family is picking her up, not so sure they would split $ since I advertised her as "free to the 'right' home". Thanks for your imput. Just hoping this all works out.

Hi to all of you that gave advise (and you too bad Krupa! flowerforyou )

Bella is by now in her new home. I put the crate out and dropped some treats and (oh darn, what is that stuff called they like so much) in it. She went in to her shoulders a few times after the treats. This morning about half an hour before her adoptive family was due she was almost half way in, I pushed from the rear, she did manage to get turned around and tried to escape but this time I was to quick (and determined,) for her. The whole thing took only a second or two so hopefully was the least traumatic for her. She cried a bit at first but soon settled down and was calm when they arrived, on time thankfully!

The house seems quiet and empty but I believe I did what was best for her. She will be missed.

Thanks again for all your help.
